How To Speak With Confidence

Speaking or giving a talk publicly can be very nerve racking. If you find it hard to speak in front of a crowd then doing so may make you panicky, break out in a sweat or just extremely nervous. To try and avoid nervousness and to speak confidently it is best to be prepared.

Unless it can’t be helped and you have a set topic to speak on, always try to speak on a subject you know well and may be comfortable to talk about. The better you know the topic and the more information you know about your subject matter, then the easier it will be for you to talk about it. Try to prepare your talk or speech first. Write out exactly what you are going to say or at least some strong points to go on. The more prepared you are the more confident you will feel about giving your speech or talk.

Unless you will be standing behind something like a lector or table, try to put the points for your talk on to small cards that you can hold in the palm of your hand. This way it will be easier for you as you will not be struggle with sheets of paper. It also it hides your notes from your audience.

If you can, only check down at your notes every now and then or as needed. Try to look at your audience as you talk to them. If you find it daunting to look at your audience and all the faces, try looking just above their heads and be sure to move your eyes around the room, so that everyone feels like you are talking to them.

Try to stand with good posture because this will make you look confident even if you are not. Use hand gestures as necessary to explain yourself and your points. Try to pace yourself and not talk too quickly, and remember to pause at moments when a pause is needed, so that you can catch your breath and get your thoughts together.

If you really struggle to have confidence to speak to publicly, try to build confidence a step at a time. Try speaking in front of smaller groups first and gradually increase the size of your audience. You could also join a group like a drama group or poetry club. Groups or clubs like this will encourage you to gain confidence and will offer exercises that you can do to build your confidence.

Confidence can be gained through practice. Once you have practiced something and feel safe in the knowledge that you can do it, in this case – when you know what you are talking about, you will feel more confident about doing it. Practice your speech or talk as much as you can prior to your speaking engagement. Get someone you trust to listen to you give your talk and ask them to give you their opinion and any suggestions that may help you. Although it may sound stupid, practicing in front of a mirror is another good way. This helps to you to see what you look like as you give your speech. You can get your posture right and see how your hand movements and so on look to the audience.

The best thing you can do is to relax. Don’t worry too much about. Every public speaker starts somewhere and everyone has nerves, so just relax and try to enjoy it. The more relaxed you are, the easier you will find it and better you will come off to your audience. Before starting your talk or speech, take a few deep breaths and try to relax. If you still feel uncontrollably nervous you could always try the good old “picture your audience in their underwear” trick!

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum madam,

Thanks for this latest post that you have shared. I am glad that this post is your preferred topic for today.

For me the feel of confidence should have in each person who are giving a speech or presentation. Sometimes when i am giving a speech or presentation i feel very confidence and sometimes not. Frankly i say maybe this is because the environment of the classroom or another place, the audience and also the fear from my own feeling.

Moreover, if you want to know, my friends in secondary school said that i have 'anxiety disorder' feeling which mean my hands is shaking and my voice turn to nervous voice.

But when i read this post, i hope it will help me control my nervous feeling and be confident to speak in front of other people in public. Thank you once again.

thanks for the useful tips above. i'm agree with your opinion that the more information we know about the subject,it will be easier to talk about it. so, if we want to give a speech of any topic, we need to find many information about it. we need to understand first about what we want to talk about then we can share with others. sometimes, when we knows a lot about somethings, it will build a good confident to us to talk about it.

Assalamualaikum Pn Emilia

I find the article very informative and useful not only for us, students but also to everyone who wants to gather tips and tricks of speech. I also agree to the comments posted by fellow readers which offer further guidelines and advice. I hereby humbly present a rather important element in delivering speeches, which is exuding and feeling confident when we are about to give a speech is crucial but for some people, that may easier said than done. This tip is geared toward helping you to build your confidence upin 10 easy to follow steps.

1. Expect to be nervous and accept it.

Even the most experienced speakers get nervous. Instead of trying to completely get rid of your fears, turn them into energy you can use to give your delivery a boost.

2. Practice in front of others.

Seek out supportive audiences like family and friends to practice in front of them. The more you do this the easier it gets.

3. Give yourself affirmations.

Give yourself a pep talk just before you give a speech. Tell yourself things like "I can do this" and "If I make a mistake, it's okay because it happens all of the time."

4. Breathe in deep and soothing breaths.

In the moments before you begin speaking, take three slow, deep breaths through your nose, filling your belly. As you breathe out, remind yourself to relax.

5. Focus on your audience and not yourself.

Most stage fright is rooted in self-preoccupation. Don't ask yourself questions about your performance while you are giving it. Stop focusing on yourself. Focus, instead, on your audience and on what you want to say to them. If you are really concerned about how you sound during a speech just ask your audience. Believe it or not, it is very welcome.

6. Simplify what you plan to say.

Most beginning speaker try to say far too much in a single speech. Then they worry about leaving something out or losing their train of thought.

7. Visualize success.

Practice relaxation techniques in the days before your presentation. Breathe slowly. Close your eyes. You want to try to picture what you will be saying and how people will react. Picture yourself speaking with confidence and thoughtfulness. Make the details as sharp as possible.

8. Connect with your audience.

Make the audience your allies. Talk to individuals before your presentation to get to know a few of them. Look them in the eye as you speak to them, one person at a time. If you can get your audience to identify with you, your job as a speaker becomes much easier and you can relax.

9. Learn to fake it.

Most people wont't see how nervous your are. If you lose your train of thought, it helps to be able to wing it. If you learn to fake it, no one will know that you messed up. As long as you hold your chin up, stick your chest out, and look confident, even you will not feel inclined to focus on your mistake. After a while you'll begin to feel it too.

10. Learn from mistakes.

Accept your mistakes during a previous speech as part of the learning process. Just because you might make a mistake doesn't mean that you can't learn from it. When you follow the other steps mentioned in this step, you will deal with it in no time.

Thank you and best regards.

As we know, not everyone can speak with confidence. For me, all tips that u gave are very useful for people who can't speak with confidence.

Everyone will nervous when they starts to speak in front of a crowd but if they have a good preparation, they can controllable their feeling nervous. It is because when they plan early about what they want to do, it can makes them confident with what they want to say and they will know what they want to do to attract audience.

The most important is you must talk about the main point only. No need to speech too long because it just can make the audience get boring with your speech.

People always said that practice in front of mirror is the best way to helping you to build your confidence. Its definitely truth. But you can also practice in front of others such as your family or your friends. With that, they can also give you some advice to helps your confidence level.

Besides, whatever you do, you have to relax. Before you start speaking, take a few deep breaths. So that, you can speak with confidence.

Assalamualaikum

To be able to speak with confidence in front of a crowd is almost every ones dream. For most of us, giving a public speech can be terrifying.

In my opinion, one good way is prepare your speech well and well in advance. Naturally, the more prepared you are the more confident you will feel about giving your speech.

Usually, when i am going to give a speech, i will write out the exactly what i am going to say. Specially for the opening and the closing of my speech. Normally if you start off well, hopefully without hiccup, that itself can boost your confidence and you will forget about your nervousness.

Actually, there is no other way to speak with confidence other than practice. Practice your speech as much as you can prior to your speaking engagement. :)

How to speak confident.
i think thats are the challenge og me.It because i not have self confident. From the topic i can learn n know about my big problem to give public speaking and thanks a lot to puan mimi to give all the tips can i use for the right n future time.thank yuu again puan.

i want to share with outher another tips,so u can use add your knowledge about to settle how to spaek confident after this

The ability to give a speech is one of the most valued business skills today. And yet most people report that giving a speech is their number one phobia.

Try these 10 tips to get over your nervousness and to develop confidence while speaking.

Expect to be nervous.
Even experienced speakers get nervous. Instead of trying to eliminate your jitters, turn them into energy you can use to boost your delivery.

Prepare.
Know what you are going to say – and why you want to say it.

Practice.
Speak to supportive audiences in small forums where less is at stake – at a staff meeting or a PTA meeting. Join Toastmasters or take a Dale Carnegie course.

Breathe.
In the thirty seconds before you begin speaking, take three slow, deep breaths through your nose, filling your belly. As you breathe out, say silently to yourself, “Relax.”

Rehearse.
Stand up and walk around as you practice out loud. Don’t memorize your speech or practice it word for word. Talk it through, point by point. Imagine you’re explaining your main ideas to someone who likes you.

Focus on your audience.
Stage fright is rooted in self-preoccupation. (“How am I doing?” “Am I making any sense?”) Stop focusing on yourself. Focus, instead, on your audience. (“How are you?” “Are you getting this?” “Can you hear me?”)

Simplify.
Most speakers try to accomplish too much in a speech. Then they worry about leaving something out or losing their train of thought. Aim, instead, to communicate what your audience can hear and understand in the limited time you have. Keep it short and simple.

Visualize success.
Practice relaxation techniques in the days before your presentation. Lie down or sit comfortably in a quiet place. Breathe slowly. Close your eyes. Scan your body, consciously relaxing any tense muscles. Imagine your upcoming speaking engagement. Picture yourself speaking with confidence.

Connect with your audience.
Make the audience your allies. Talk to individuals before your presentation to get to know them. Look them in the eye as you speak to them, one person at a time. If your audience sides with you, your job as a speaker becomes much easier and you can relax.

Act confident.
People won’t see how nervous you are. (They can’t tell if your palms are sweating or your knees are knocking or your heart is pounding.) So don’t tell them. Smile. Stick your chest out. Look confident, even if you don’t feel it.

thats all tips i will share with u
thank you

Assalamualaikum..

Speaking to others is a natural, human experience. When we speak to one another, or one person speaks to a group, what we are doing is really communicating.

Most people feel uncomfortable speaking in front of 20 or so people or co-workers. Some end up speaking with a lack of self confidence, thus hindering the communication effectiveness and also how you are perceived professionally in the workplace environment.

So, how do you develop the skills required to speak publicly and to speak with confidence? It is a very important skill to have after all, since a good speech with effective communication delivered with confidence can carry the day.

Firstly, you should thoroughly research what you are going to be discussing. The research should be done at such a level, that when you have completed it, you know the subject matter backwards and forwards, inside and out. This will give you confidence when your speech is delivered. Writing your speech out on paper is good a good idea too as this helps you learn and memorize specific things you may want to point out when you deliver your speech.

Besides, it is also a good idea to do a dry run of your speech to family members or friends so that they can give you some constructive criticism for improvement. When they give you suggestions for improvement, implement them in your speech material if you think they are sound and will actually improve your speech. Ask your dry run listeners to ask questions about the subject you are presenting so you can get feedback on the level of confidence you have in your answers and explanations. Also, remember to present your dry run speech using the tools and resources you will have available when you deliver your actual speech.

Conclusion, public speaking is best perfected with practice and as you get better, your peers will motivate you to even higher levels of achievement.

thats all
thank you..

Salam Pn Mimi.

Everyone can be so afraid and also do not be confident while they doing speech in front of audience. For me these are very good tips to be confident when you are try to giving speech in front of crowded people.

Firstly you must to be prepared in your speech before the day come in. So from that, you can be confident when you already prepared with your speech. You should be doing more practice for your speech. So that, you can be able to give a good speech without doing any mistakes. Here, you will be confident when you give a speech to audiences.

Next, you also need to control your breath when want to give a speech. You need to take your time when you want to make a speech. It is because it can release your afraid and replace a confident with yourself while give a speech in front of people.

Lastly I hopefully that I can control my nervous while doing my speech in front of audience and I also hope that I can be more confident when doing my speech in front crowded of people.

Thank you. ;)

Assalamualaikum Madam

Speaking is an activity human civilisation has been indulging in ever since they start making sense of various sounds, but still there are very few people who really know how to make an impact with theit speech.

When you speak with confident people listen to you, they pay attention. Speaking with confident is not only necessary in your professional life. With practice can perfect this speach and must try to do the following in order to be able to speak with confidence:

BELIEVE IN WHAT YOU ARE SAYING
when you beleive in what you are saying you say with great energy and clarity. you dont speak slowly just because you not sure of what are you saying.so you will not worried what about you said and about other reaction.

SPEAK SLOWLY
speaking slowly is does not mean that you make a fool of yourself. its mean when you speak to quickly the audience will not understand what are you trying to say, so speaking in your natural speed. every word on what you said is important.

TAKE YOUR TIME BEFORE RESPONDING
when you are speaking in a group, for instance in a discussion group, take your time before you respond. clearly decide whether you want to agree or not and your reason for it. when think before saying, it gives an impression that you render due importance to the ongoing topic

FEEL RELEXED
you will seem more confident when you are relexed. feeling relaxed is not as difficult as it may seem intially. just believe that you are relaxed and spread this feeling of your relexation throughout your body. sned waves of good thoughts to your arms, legs and neck.

A good way to speak with confidence, but i have an easier way to overcome not confidence to speak. Some of the easiest ways to speak with confidence are as follows:

Communicate clearly among friends and family members:

Unless you know how to present your thoughts precisely before your friends and family members you would not find it easier to address a gathering. Therefore, it would be good for you to start interacting with people more socially and actively. This will help you to present your views more confidently.

Practice in front a mirror:

This is considered as one of the earliest means by which people have overcome their fears while addressing a large gathering or conference. You can do this at night as per your convenience and master at the skill within a short span of time.

Think and form an opinion on things that matter:

There are a lot of things that will catch your attention quite easily. If you are a sports fanatic you will form opinions about a particular match or player. Similarly, if you love cooking you would find articles related to various cuisines interesting. Reading prepares the mind to think and thinking helps to communicate verbally.

Using these methods can anyone to master at the skill of public speaking.I highly recommend joining a group that will require you to talk on a number of subjects through the course of a program. Essentially it is only with experience that your talent for Public Speaking will grow

Assalamualaikum madam emelia,

Thank you for posting these great tips on how to speak with confidence. Here I want to share with everybody a lil bit of experience I have when giving out speech or in a presentation.

1.Overconfidence
Remember that when u want to give out speech, never ever be overconfidence because it will kill you later. Maybe right now you can say that you have remember every single words of the speech that you will present, but when you have face the audience everything will be mess up.

2.Tones
When giving out a speech, you have to use the right tone on the right place. If the speech were given out on a flat tone, the audience will easily bored and they will lose their focus on the speaker. If it on an unstable (too high or too low) tone, the audience will easily get confused. So the main point is you have to get the right tone on the right place. Try to practice it with your friends and ask their opinion on the tone speech.

I hope that this will help everyone in making their speech in the future.Thank you.

Assalamualaikum madam...

In my opinion, your tips are very useful for student to speak with confidence in front of the audience. I was the person who have no confident in front of the people. By using this tips, I hope I can face the fear when I want to give my speech.

Besides that, I had read the other article that give tips on how to speak with confidence. In that article, Mark Twain said that there are two types of speakers. Those who get nervous and those who are liars. In other words, if you have public speaking fear, you are not alone. In fact, very few people can speak with confidence in front of the audience.

The other tips in this article are:
1. stand up straight, smile, and look directly at your audience because this will make you make you appear your confident even if you are slightly nervous.

2. If you are not using microphone, make sure you project your voice, so that the person at the back should hear clearly what you're saying.

3. Remember to pause your speech for the listener to catch your words and to allow time for you to get your thought in order.

4. The use of hand gestures is equally important when you want to stress a point in your speech.

5. Stay focused on the present because that's your speech. Don't think about the mistakes you have just made or what will happen if you make anymore mistake ahead.

I agree with that there is no other way to speak with confidence other than practice.

‘Confidence’ actually comes from our self. It can archive only from learn. But it must daily practical in life.
Below I list little bit point that may be able to guide to get the ‘confidence’ things.

1) Know yourself. Think your energy and weakness. Throw away the negative things and make improvement. Not too focus to the your weakness because it will be the negative effect to yourself.

2) Some time when the public speaking activities, or presentation each presenter make comparison with other person. do not compare yourself with other one..Such as their fat, thin, cute. Make this things in positive angle.

3).make some sentence as your daily positive energy. Such as "i can do it"," my speech are better."

4) Make the best friend from the best. Actually our friends have make effect too. Take a friends that can give advice, helpful that can energize the positive thinking.

5) Proud with all what have you done.

6) improve the speaking skill with learn and do the effective communication. try be a best listener and give your opinion with communicate in meeting, question and other.

7) always smile and look eye to eye (eye contact) with the person we talk.

8) Create the goal achievement and point clearly. The goal must specific, realistic and have time line that you can archive it. With this one it can test and build the self confidence.
9) Know and understand that the fail
actually not are the 'end' but the starting of the treasure.

what i am list actually not only for confidence of speaking. but confidence in our self. I hope it will helpful.
That’s all.

Assalamualaikum Pn Mimi and all friends..

This article is interesting for me to give some tips how to speak with confidences. First of all, we must be ready from all aspects, especially our material and contents of speech. We must choose an interesting topic and do complete research on that topic, so that we can give a fact and correct information to all of our audiences. Then, we should state from where we gets the fact. For instance, we can state that we get the information from Dr. / Prof from his/her article that talk about our topic. Through the complete research, our audience will not be able to oppose our topics. Other than that, if we are using visual aids, we should make sure that it will function well, so that we don’t get panic when it not function well (if we using high-tech or low-tech). Besides that, we can use a small card that we can put our outline. We can use it as to remind our point.

Next, we must practice our speech. If we are not confidence to give a speech in front of audience, we can practice it in front of mirror or practice it in front of 4 to 5 friends to get their feedback's about our speech and their can add some ideas to make our speech become interesting and it can make us reduce our nervousness.

Last but not least is our performance. When we want to start our performance, we must stand properly and control our posture. We should keep spine straight and rotate our shoulders back. Other than that we must control our eye contacts with our audiences. We must brave to look at them to get their feedback's. This is also to show them that you are confidence to give them a speech. Then give a speech with using a good facial expression. That will attract audience to follow your speech until end. Furthermore, we can speak with confidence through our body language. Our body language also plays a role for making us speak with confidence. For instance, we want to say that we are in angry mood; “stop!” or to say that you don’t know about it; “I don’t know” by using your body language.

Hopefully by using this tips, we can speak with confidence.

Thank you (“,)..

I totally agree with this article. From my opinion, confident is the key to deliver a good and interesting speech. The first thing that the audience look is the confident level of the speaker. When we deliver our speech remember that no one is perfect.

Being able to speak confidently in public is important to success and will gain respect from the audience. i would like to add some additional information on how to speak with confident.

we have to show the audience that we have a higher level of confident to deliver our speech. So, don't look down.People believe that if we are looking down, we don't know what we want to talk about. They might also think that we are lying. If we don't have the courage to face the audience, we can look at the top of their head, just pretending that we look at them.

Other than that, use proper english. Make sure to check our language before present in front of the others. We will sound smarter and more confident when we use a proper english.

Thats the additional information that i gain through internet. I hope we can share it together since sharing is caring.

Salam madam,
Thanks for your advice about talking confidently. I’m absolutely agree with the statement that the one who can’t deliver a good speech may act something that can make you panicky, break out in a sweat or just extremely nervous. By that time, everyone around you will notice your discomfort by standing there. So this will make crowd become bored while waiting for you to end your speech.

By reading your post, I realize that not only me but other readers also facing with the same problem. This post has taught me on how we are going to do to improve our self-confident. Actually, I’m having a problem to pace myself while talking in front crowd because I feel like I can’t stand talking alone and people keep staring at me. So I use to talk quickly because by this act I can end my speech without creating any trouble. However, after I understand the meaning of your post, I discover that this is not the way to control my fear.

Yeah, I’m totally agree with the idea on talking in front of a mirror because by doing this, we can learn on how to stand with a good posture and can practice our movement before we keep going to the audience. We can also create our own movement and our own personality in front of the mirror and things will be better from first to the last. Then, if we satisfy with our style and become more confident, we can move to the small groups of audience such as family, friends, and also classmates if we trust them. By doing this, people will help you with their advice because you has given them your belief.

I’m sure that people are not so cruel by let you suffer with what you are going to give in your speech. So, while deliver a speech we need to co-operate with crowd or audience because they are the one who will judge our performance.

That’s all. Thanks madam..~

Assalamualaikum.

Thanks you for providing this post. From this post, i can learn how to speak confident in front of people. From my opinion, to speak confidently, we have to make a lot of practice. We can practice our speech in front of mirror. From that, it can make our confident increase. Actually, speak confident is important because it can make our audience confident and can accept what we try to talk about. Then, we can use some props to make audience more confident with our point. From my opinion, when we use some props like pictures, statistic and many more can make me more confident and can reduces some nervous and anxiety.

I agree with your tips madam. Insyaallah i will used this tips for my preparation for my speech.

Here, i have some tips to add.

1. understand with all points.

Before give a speech, we must list all point that we want to talk. We must prepare for good elaboration for support our point. We must understand with our elaboration and not just remember it. By make research, we can more understand with what we want talk about.

2. friend with she/he that always confident.

Another tips is, you can find friend that always in confident when talk. So that, you can get tips from he/she how to talk with confident in front of people.

With friend with them, we can be as he/she because when you have someone who believes in you and you have a plan you
believe in , your confidence will soar.

3. Don't talk to much

When you don’t say much, people have to try and assume what you’re thinking. Getting inside your head is much harder than knowing what you feel or think.

other than that, people will get boring when you talk to much because when you talk to much, you will elaborate the same point.

4. used simple english

when you talk, used simple english, so that when you talk in front, you no need to think the sentences that you hard to think. Just talk about what you expect in your mind.

thank you

Assalamualikum. Frist of all, actually, public speaking itself is one way to gain self confident in ourselves. Not all of us can speak with confident. It is depends on us how we make it. Well, a good quality presentation standard is well designed message, polished delivery skill and serves your customer. That is the most important. Good presentation is equal to good customer service. Through our message we cannot only think about what is on the surface but we also have to think about what is below the surface because what lies below is also important. Self confident is really crucial because even if you have brilliant ideas but you cannot get them across, your brains won’t go anywhere (Lee Lacocca).

To speak with confident first of all I think, we have to show to the audience that we are confident. This shows we believe and knowledgeable in our topic so that we will convince them. We also have to speak out loud so that everyone even the people at the back can hear what we are saying. Other than that, to be confident, we have to feel good so that our message will be delivered in a positive way. Do not show any negative expression. We have to keep this important factor in mind and we have to stand straight, smile and give firm handshakes. Remember not to use bombastic words if you cannot conquer it at all. Again, I think, the most important of all, actually, we have to practice. We can get our family or friends to help us and get their feedback. To be more confident, we can also tell our self that we are the best, no one can beat us. Through the point, we can help ourselves speak confidently. Am I right? Last but not least I guess, we have to project our voice, rehearsed, pictured ourselves as a winner, done our homework and affirmed ourselves. Once we find it, never lose it! So let us keep building self confident in ourselves =)

I agree with you and I really want to thank you for that valuable information of yours.I believe those information will surely make me a better speaker in future.

I have been a speaker for quite sometime and I'm not talking about speaking in front of my classmate but I've spoken with hundreds of people as my audience at once.Everybody knows that nothing is more valuable in our life compared to experience. So here i would like to share with you some of my personal experiences and way which had helped me a lot during my speech.

KNOW YOURSELF

It is very important that you know yourself.I don't mean know as you know your name or your identity card number.Know means to be able to identify what you fear, what makes you brave as well as to be able to take note of your advantages and disadvantages. You must remember that everyone is differ from another. So, being able to know yourself helps you in choosing what way that best fit you or even come out with a personal way that you find helpful and comfortable with.

RESEARCH

Research is the second most important things that need to be done if you have been set on a topic for your speech. When you are asked to talk about a topic, for most of the time the topic that is given to you will be something that you don't know much about.Research will prepare you with the information needed.Plus, information needed equal to confidence. This is due to the situation where you don't have force yourself to think about what is next to say.

PRACTICE

Personally I think, practicing too much will lessen your nervousness before the speech but might put you in a very risky situation in which you might be out of control if you forget what you have practiced. This is because during the practice, people tend to memorize their words and action that they will deliver in their real speech.so my advise is to just practice in front of the mirror for few times then just fill yourself with all the information needed. Not to forget, arrange your speech wisely.Do not confused your audience by talking about things which are not related.Do write the main points of your speech as that will lessen the possibility for you to forget about what to say.

DRESS WELL

Wear something that you are comfortable of wearing.Avoid wearing very tight clothes as that may give difficulties in your movement.I suggest for you to wear something with cool colours such as light blue or soft pink.Surprisingly, colours have its own role.Soft colour lessen the tension of the audience eyes which also helps your audience to feel calm throughout your speech.

PUNCTUAL

To be late is a bad thing in any situation. In our situation, being late can cause even more nervousness and have such high potential for you to forget many things to say hence lead to lack of confidence.

JUST SPEAK

You have known yourself, you know you have done your research and have the information needed, you have practiced and you already dressed well.So now just speak.nervousness is in everybody.Even a Prime Minister get nervous for his speech. You know you are well prepared so control your nervousness and just speak.Be yourself and think that there will be no harm for speaking.Think of the applause that you will get after you end your speech and that will help you to gain your confidence.Be your audience. If you are talking to students, speak in 'from student to student' way and same goes to others.

That's all with my personal experience.Hope you find it helpful just the way I did and hope that it will help you someway.Thank You.

Assalamualaikum.

Thanks to you madam for your tips about how to speak with confidence. I agree with all tips that you are given because it totally can help all the student and everyone that had with this problems. From this tips, i can learn how to speak confidence in front of people. So that, i would like to add some other tips about how to speak with confidence.

Here is some tips on how to speak with confidence:
- Being Calm
We have to being calm when we want to speak in front of people. For every situation in life we need to run on the appropriate level of emotion. Too much emotional can spoil your speech. We haveto make great strides towards confidence when we begin to relax in a greater range of situations.

- Being Cool
The second part of self confidence is about we have being to able relax with uncertainty.
To be cool in a situation really means because we don't know what will happen when we speak in front of people. If we truly tolerate uncertainty, we can do anything with successful.

-Don't task your mind with negatives.
Set the blueprint for what we want! Our brain doesn't work towards what to do by being told what not to do.

3 simple strategies to get us feeling confident quickly:

- Think specifically of the time/place/situation that we want to feel confident in. Remember confidence doesn't mean anything until we are attach it to something specific.

- Focus on words in our mind right now that describe how we want to be in that time and place. Maybe words such as calm, relaxed or focused. Remember our brain works on clear positive instructions.

- Close eyes for as long as we like and think about how those words feel. Then, imagine the situation itself and rehearse it in our mind feeling confident and relaxed. This way we set the right blueprint or task for our unconscious mind.

Thank You.

There is a natural fear of public speaking that most people experience when they are to deliver a presentation or speak in public. It is far more unusual for people to be able to naturally speak with confidence.

There are a number of techniques that can be used to help with public speaking anxiety. One of the best methods to use to speak with confidence is practice. More than any other human activity, confident public speaking is improved by practice and doing.

There are 2 ways a public speaking can use practice to develop their skill and confidence :

a. Practicing a speech
Practicing a speech is similar to rehearsing a play. Practice helps us get used to our speech, the timing, cues and the flow of the speech. It also helps in discovering anything that doesn't work as planned.

Deliver the speech several times, including a few times to friends and family. If possible practice the delivery of the speech in room where we will actually give the speech.

b. Practice speaking
Learning to swim means finding a swimming pool to practice strokes. In learning public speaking it requires finding a meeting to practice our public speaking.

As with all fields of human activity, practice plays an important part in developing skills and confidence in public speaking. The more frequently we practice the quicker and easier it is to overcome public speaking anxiety and fear to speak with confidence. Most effective speakers today started off as nervous speakers and it was through practice that they developed their skills to become confident speakers.

Thank you.

I would like to add some tips on how to speak with confident.

Speaking or giving a talk publicly can be very nerve racking. If you find it hard to speak in front of a crowd then doing so may make you panicky, break out in a sweat or just extremely nervous. To try and avoid nervousness and to speak confidently it is best to be prepared.

Unless in can’t be helped and you have a set topic to speak on, always try to speak on a subject you know well and may be comfortable to talk about.

If you still feel uncontrollably nervous you could always try the good old “picture your audience in their underwear” trick!

assalamualaikum..

here i would like to add some information on how to be aconfidence when we are standing in front of an audience..

first of all, the best thing we should do by practising regularly. the more you practice, the better you will get. Whether you stand in front of a mirror and speak, or whether you give your speech out loud to yourself or in front of friends, practicing your speech will increase your confidence and public speaking ability.

after that, realize that the speech you are going to give is not the end of the world. Public speaking and oral presentations are small, insignificant things when compared to the grand complexities of life and the universe.

and, last but not least, being extremely knowledgeable about your speech topic will go a long way towards alleviating your public speaking/performance anxiety and making you feel more confident. Being well-prepared will make you feel much more like an authority on your subject, which will make you feel and sound more confident!

Assalamualaikum and thank you for your meaningful post. I’m totally agreed with your topics that have been discussed. While I am in a classroom, I always think that who speaks excellently? I will select those who look smart or those who often recite in class. I will think that these people are actually more confident than I think they are. Or perhaps, they are born speakers and I am are not. Some may have special interests in public speaking, but most people do not know anything about it.
What I want to share here that there are some of basic rule in public speaking in preparing yourself to speak.

1. Gain an understanding of who you are

-Discover your own knowledge, capabilities, biases and potentials.

2. Gain an understanding of your audience

-Ponder upon what the audience wants to hear, what provokes their interest, what they believe in and what they want to know.

3. Gain an understanding of the situation

-Consider how the setting of the place and other unforeseen factors could affect the way you deliver your speech.

4. Anticipate response from the audience

-Make sure you have a clear purpose in mind so that the audience will respond in the way you want them to.

5. Search for other sources of information
-There might be more materials available for you to make your speech more colorful.

6. Come up with an argument that is reasonable

-Make sure that the purpose of your speech is supported by clear and reliable data to formulate a sound argument.

7. Add structure to your message

-Organize your ideas so that the audience will not have a hard time following and digesting your ideas.

8. Talk directly to your audience
-Make sure the language you are using is one that your audience is comfortable with. Consider the occasion in delivering your speech.

9. Gain self-confidence through practice

-It is only through practice can you effectively present your speech. Master the flow of your presentation by repeatedly rehearsing it. That way, you can have command over your speech.

Basically, good speakers aim to change the beliefs, values, or attitudes of the audience through clean persuasion. I am sure those rule is the key in being the good public speaker and how to speak with confidence like a public speaking superstar.

Thank You. =)

Salam madam..thanks for your information..
thus, I want to share with you how to speak confident......

Speaking with confidence is not only necessary in your professional life, it is required in all spheres of life. Whether you seek love, or respect, it matters how you speak. With practice you can perfect this art and you must try to do the following in order to be able to speak with confidence:

Believe in what you are saying
When you believe in what you are saying you say it with great energy and clarity. You don’t fumble with words and you don’t speak slowly just because you’re not sure of what you are saying. When you believe in your thoughts you don’t care what others think of you. Most of us cannot speak with confidence because we are constantly worried about others’ reaction.

Speak slowly
Speaking slowly doesn’t mean that you drawl and make a fool of yourself; it means speaking in your natural speed. Don’t be in a hurry to complete your sentences. Every word is important so you must put proper emphasis on it. Make sure that you are saying each and every individual word clearly. You can learn from the newsreaders: you can often understand each and every word of what they are saying.

Take your time before responding
When you are speaking in a group, for instance, in a party or a discussion group, take your time before you respond. Pause for a few seconds, clearly decide whether you want to agree or disagree, and your reason for it. Don’t worry to make an impression because the more you worry about it the greater are the chances that you may say something that you shouldn’t have said. When you think before saying, it gives an impression that you render due importance to the ongoing topic.

Feel relaxed
You seem more confident when you are relaxed. Feeling relaxed is not as difficult as it may seem initially. Just believe that you are relaxed and spread this feeling of relaxation throughout your body. Tell yourself that you’re not going to feel tense, no matter what happens. Send waves of good thoughts to your arms, legs and neck. You will be amazed to see that this actually works.

Like the people around you
When you like the people around you are not worried about their reaction. Try to make everybody feel positive about them. Approach people with an attitude of positivity. Don’t patronize and be real in your thoughts.

Build your vocabulary
You can speak with confidence if you can use proper words to convey proper thoughts. Building a vocabulary certainly doesn’t mean people have to run and grab a dictionary the moment you approach them; it’s just that when you know your words, you can focus your thoughts on your message, rather than what words to use to articulate it.

THANK YOU....

Salam..here I want to share how to speak in public with confident.

How to speak in public with confidence

Most of us find standing up in front of a group of people pretty nerve-wracking, whether it’s delivering a work presentation or giving a witty wedding speech. You’re not alone in feeling jittery! Thankfully, though, there are some ways you can ease the fear factor and speak in public with confidence so that your audience really sit up and take notice.

Know your topic
If you know your subject matter inside out, you’ll find that you can deliver your speech with greater ease and confidence. So be sure to suitable yourself with the subject matter well before the occasion – do whatever research is required, then sit down to type your speech out in full. You’ll probably need to refine your first draft a few times before it’s polished, so don’t leave this to the last minute! Going over the text a few times will make your speech come across in a more clear, precise way.

Practice in front of a mock audience
Now you’ve got your speech written, it’s time to practice delivering it in a confident way. The more you say the speech aloud, the more the sentences will sink in to your memory. This gives you the chance to look up at your audience regularly, instead of gluing your eyes to the page. Of course you don’t need to commit the entire speech to memory and then rattle it off like a robot, but if you lose place halfway through, it’s handy to be able to continue on so nobody notices!

Deal with the physical nerves
Besides that funny knotty feeling inside, many of us also experience physical reactions to nerves – we might feel sweaty, a bit nauseous, light-headed, or get a dry throat. Sometimes no matter how many deep breaths you take, you just can’t control those physical symptoms!

Dress right and be yourself
Dress to suit the occasion, but not so you’re uncomfortable. For example, if you’re prone to sweating when under pressure, choose a top in a lightweight material that doesn’t show sweat marks. And despite the fact that you might be delivering a formal speech, a smile here and there, or a light-heart comment or two, will inspire confidence and make you feel more relaxed. Go for it!

THANK YOU..

Salam..here is some tips how to speak in confident..

Here are some excellent tips for you to successfully become a good public speaker:

• The first and the foremost secret is to be always well prepared for the speech. Be hundred percent sure of your content and know exactly what you are going to say to your audience. And always know a little more than what is on your speech. This way, you gain confidence as you go along because you know what you are talking about.

• Time your speech well. You will be extra confident if you plan exactly when you will start and finish.

• Even if you are a skilled speaker, you are bound to feel nervous sometimes. Don’t worry, stay calm and turn your nervousness into raw energy that you can use while delivering your speech.

• Relax a bit before the speech. Take a few deep breaths through your nose and let the tension melt away.

• Know your audience well and interact with them before starting on your speech. This way you feel better while speaking. And as you spot familiar faces in the audience looking up to you, your confidence increases tenfold.

• Remember, stage fright is nothing but a manifestation of our lack of belief in our own self. So tell yourself that you are going to speak really well and you will.

• Focus more on the speech than the audience.

• Also, know the area where you are going to deliver the speech. The more comfortable you are in your surroundings, the more flow your speech is going to have. You will sound a lot more confident and at ease.Always be energetic and alert while giving a speech as it livens up the atmosphere. Spectators look up to you as someone who is very sure of what he is speaking.

• Your body language defines your personality. So don’t slouch, smile excessively or fiddle with your hair or hands. Be confident and maintain a right posture with your head upwards.

• Remember no one really knows how tensed you might be. So even if you make a mistake or an error, move on and don’t let it break your flow. This will maintain your confidence. Smile and stay focused.

Follow these tips and you will be giving great speeches in no time.

thank you..

Assalamualaikum..

For me, to speak with confident very hard because I always nervous when to speak with people that I don't recognize. Because I think I will make mistake when I speak with them. Besides that, I also think that them will laugh at me. My mind always think that things.

But, after I read that tips I will speak with confident with any people.

I also want share some tips :

Step 1

Keep the pace of your words moderate. It is hard to understand people who talk too fast. Confident speakers talk slowly, but not to the point of being a bore.

Step 2

Spend some time enhancing your vocabulary. Being redundant can make your presentation dull, and make you appear unintelligent. Also, with a large repertoire or words at your command you will appear as an authority.

Step 3

Speak from your diaphragm. This gives your voice resonance and projection.

Step 4

Use open hand gestures with your palm facing up. This says "Hey! I have nothing to hide, I'm speaking the truth!"

Do not overdo it or you may distract your audience.

Step 5

Make eye contact with your audience.

Step 6

"Uh...", "You know?", "Right?"

Kill these words/phrases! Using these will make you seem unprofessional and un-confident.

Step 7

Stand straight, keep your hands out of your pockets and do not forget to smile!

Salam Madam,

Thank you for all the points above, it's truly useful plus the points also more related to the computers. It make me more understand about it. I agree that modern English talk like speech and presentation now more like informal than before twenty years ago. People now also more like informal talk that may contains a bit joke or something that can open their minds, and not make them feel like want to sleep hearing her or his speech. In addition, even the audience more like informal talk like that but it is still the talkative have to start the presentation with the right points like example above. Including welcome them, wish them, greet them and thank them also for willing to hear our talk.

Thank you.

Salam,
Thank you for your tips above. Here, i want share other tips for 'How to Feel Confident in Front of Your Audience':

1. Know the environment you will speak in. Become familiar with the location by arriving early and strolling approximately. Know how much space you have and the physical distance between you and your listeners. As you acclimate yourself to your stage, you will find yourself feeling more leisurely.

2. Know your audience. You should find out who comprises your viewers and do some investigate to ascertain their likes and dislikes. When they enter the room, greet them and take time to get to know some faces.

3. Know your presentation inside and out. If you don't know what you'll be presenting how can you expect yourself to feel fearless?

4. Implement breathing methods to help you relax. Breathing systems have been scientifically proven to invigorate the body and help you remove nervousness.

5. See yourself on stage before you really arrive. Replay images of your successful presentation in your mind. If you visual success, you'll observe it.

6. Know that your audience wants you to succeed. Your prosperity means they get what they want and need. If they have paid money to attend your presentation, they have a personal stake in securing your future. If you are providing training, they have an individual stake in your success. If you're delivering a graduation address at a local university, the graduating class has an individual stake. Get the belief? Your viewers wants you to succeed.

7. Don't draw attention to your being nervous. Many people will not even realize that you are nervous. Most occasions you will find that while you have your audience's attention, they're really thinking about on their own. They're absorbing what you say and processing that into how that relates to them.

8. Know that there is a purpose to your warning. You have a warning to deliver. Often times it's an underlying cause that you are passionate about. Other times, perhaps it is training that your business requires you to give.

Preparation is the cornerstone to your success! Through preparation, you can likewise overcome most if not every one of the feelings of fear that you could have so prepare, prepare, prepare!

Assalamualaikum. I get lot of information from this article. I can use this information to make me feel more confident when give a speech. Speaking with confidence is usually a problem for many people. Being able to speak confidently in conversations and in public is important to success and will gain respect. Here is a breakdown of the steps you can take to be a confident speaker.
A. Speaking
1. The 3-second rule. When you’re speaking with someone, take 3 seconds before you respond. This may seem awkward at first, but it gives you a chance to do a lot of things before you say something you might regret. In addition to letting you think about what you’re going to say, it also allows room for them to continue talking. If they feel uncomfortable in the silence, you’ve gained the upper-hand.
2. Have a plan. Go into the conversation with a plan and think about the responses you are likely to get. Play it out like a chess game. Where each move you make has an effect on them, and vice versa.
3. Be comfortable. Use your plan to leave room for awkwardness on their part. If they feel like they are fumbling for words and trying to gain your confidence in them, then you’re in control. You have to be comfortable and relaxed enough so that you can say what you want without feeling stupid.
4. Don’t talk so much. When you don’t say much, people have to try and assume what you’re thinking. Getting inside your head is much harder than knowing what you feel or think. It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.
5. Think about what you say. Take some time to think about what you’re going to say. You’re bound to run into snags, but if you can recover well it will look planned. So take a second and think before you start talking.
6. Diction. Enunciate and speak well. Make sure to pronounce your T’s. Try some tongue twisters to improve your diction.
7. Use proper English. You will sound smarter, more confident, and feel better. Colloquialisms are great for friendly conversation but not for confident speaking.
B. Body language
1. Don’t smile so much. People take smiling as a sign of warmth but also a sign of emotional involvement. The more distant you are, the harder it is for someone to disregard you.
2. Look them in the eye. This shows confidence and makes the other person know you mean business.
3.Don’t look down. People believe that if you are looking down you don’t know what you’re talking about. They might also think you are lying. Fight the urge to look at your feet and look into the other person’s eyes instead.
4. Show less emotion. The less emotion you show the more people are likely to really listen. Now, this isn’t to say that you shouldn’t be passionate. Use your passion to fuel your speech.
5. Don’t blink so much. Next time you’re watching a movie during a serious scene, watch the actor’s eyes. If they are good, you will notice they barely blink, if at all. The more people can see your eyes the more sincere they believe you to be.
C. In general
1. Make sure your body language and speech patterns match. If one is exciting and the other dull this will confuse your listeners and make them feel unsure about what you’re saying.
2. Practice. Practice your voice, speaking in front of a mirror, and practice with people you are comfortable with. The more you do it, the easier it will come.
By speaking well and having your body language in check you will be able to speak more confidently and be taken seriously. Use these tips in conversation, presentations, and every day speaking and you will be respected.

Thank you Madam Mimi.

Shyness is a major handicap for successful communication. It is important to work towards overcoming and eliminating the handicap. Action is required. By learning people skills as well as the strategies of self-management, you can become comfortable in social situations. As nervousness and awkwardness disappear, shyness will no longer be a problem.

Remember when you were in a room with people and had awkward hesitant feelings? Or not being comfortable approaching someone for some purpose such as doing business or class assignment? Or wanting to ask someone for a date, but did not follow through? In these situations is there some force holding you back?

Shyness is rooted in fear, it is an irrational fear of speaking up and being humiliated or ignored. Why are some people so afraid of speaking out? In my mind the main causes are oversensitivity and insecurity. When you associate speaking out with pain and embarrassment, you’ll do almost anything to avoid it.

Shy feelings stem from self-consciousness, when too much of your focus of attention has shifted to yourself. Whether you are introverted or extraverted, shyness has to do with being uncomfortable with yourself around other people. Although these feelings often decrease with adulthood, shyness can persist and become an imprisoning habit.

Thank you.

How to Give a Good Speech in Public

Step 1
Prepare for your speech! Do not try to give an impromptu speech unless you are a highly skilled and experience speaker. Preparing for your speech will make your credibility level high with the audience because you actually know what you are talking about! In other words, don't try to give a detailed lecture on Calculus if you are an English teacher!

Step 2
Practice, practice, practice! Attempting to give a speech to the public without first practicing is a mistake that you must avoid. When you practice your speech, you are eliminating the precious "thinking time" that you brain is limited to during a speech. In other words, if you have to pause every few seconds to gather your thoughts, you will lose credibility with your audience, and you may even put them to sleep with boredom! Try practicing your speech to your mother, father, friend, sister, brother, girlfriend, boyfriend, pets, a stuffed animal, or even yourself in the mirror.

Step 3
Relax! The audience is not out to get you!
Relax! Any person giving a speech (even the best and most experienced speakers) are going to get a bit nervous. When you get nervous about giving you speech just remembers that it is a natural feeling that happens to everybody. When trying to eliminate your anxiousness about speaking, realize that the audience is not hostile, or out to get you. You can even try the classic trick of picturing the audience in their underwear. Try to find what works for you so that you are able to deliver your speech with as little anxiety as possible.

Step 4
Slow down!
Slow down! While giving your speech, remember to take it very slow. You will be talking and thinking at a much faster rate than you realize because your adrenaline level will be higher than normal. Do whatever you have to do to make sure that your speech is delivered in a controlled manner, even if you have to count to three between main points.

Step 5
Be confident in yourself and your speech.
Be confident! One character trait that exists within every great speaker is confidence. To give the best speech, you actually have to sincerely believe what you are saying. Confidence is something that is developed through time, practice, and experience. This is perhaps one of the hardest parts of speaking to master, but with time you will develop the ability to have confidence in yourself, and in your speeches.

You have to be careful with this one.

Thanks madam for the tips.
Here are some tips about how to speak with confidence.

1- Learn how to have conversations with people. Your ideas or opinions may not always be accepted by others, but this is nothing unusual. Open your mouth, express your beliefs! This will improve your courage.

2- Don’t be afraid and speak loudly. If you speak in a low voice, not only will others not be able to hear what you say, but you will also portray a submissive demeanor, which suggests the opposite of a confident one.

3- Make eye contact when you speak. For one thing, it is polite for others. Also, eye contact will help others to listen to your thinking carefully.

4- Praise yourself everyday! This will promote your own confidence, which is important when you speak. With more confidence, people will take your thinking more seriously.

Thank you.

Salam madam....

Speaking with confidence is usually a problem for many people. Being able to speak confidently in conversations and in public is important to success.

Firstly, believe in what you are saying. When you believe in your thoughts you don’t care what others think of you. Most of us cannot speak with confidence because we are constantly worried about others’ reaction.

This may seem awkward. If possible, take your time before you respond. In addition to letting you think about what you’re going to say, it gives an impression that you render due importance to the topic.

Next, feel free to relax. You seem more confident when you are relaxed. Tell yourself that you’re not going to feel tense, no matter what happens.

In order to gain confidence in your speech, the speaker itself must feel confidence about themselves. This can be solve by wearing comfortable clothes and try to stand with good posture because this will make you look confident.

The most important thing is stop worrying too much about it and your confidence level. Just be sincere with yourself and with people.

Then, Practice! Once you have practiced something and you think that you can do it then you will feel more confident about doing it. The usage of proper English might be helpful. You will sound smarter, more confident, and feel better about your speech.

By speaking well and having your body language in check you will be able to speak more confidently and be taken seriously.

I hope this tips will be helpful in order to be able to speak with confidence. :D

Love* :))

assalamualaikum...

I like your tips about how to speak with confident.I had read the article on how to develop confident in public speaking and I want to share with u on something that the most common reasons people list for being afraid of public speaking with suggestions for what to do to overcome that fear.
__________________________________________
"I'll be boring."
If you're not boring in real life, there's no reason for you to be boring as a speaker. Fear is the culprit. It makes you self-protective. When you're afraid, you draw back into yourself. Your focus narrows to what is immediately around you, and all you can think about is survival. You lose your creativity, spontaneity, and humor. Control your nervousness, and your natural liveliness will surface.

"People will laugh at me."
If you do or say something that amuses people, they will laugh — even if you don't want them to. So laugh with them. Then they're not laughing at you, they're laughing with you. And they'll love you for it. Laughter is the most potent antidote to fear. While fear shuts you down and makes you cower in the corner, laughter pumps you up and gets you energized.

"People will see how nervous I am."
So what? People expect you to be nervous. Being nervous is only a problem if you're so nervous that you make the audience nervous. Don't call attention to your nervousness. Just go on with your speech.

"I'll forget my next point."
Since so many speakers do forget their next point, there are lots of strategies to compensate for it.
While preparing your presentation make sure your main points flow logically from one to another. Make the connections really tight.
Take a moment, take a breath, and think. If you give yourself half a chance you'll probably remember what you were going to say.
Back up and try again. Repeat the previous point, the one you just summarized. Doing so will often lead you on to the next point.
Refer to your notes. Even if you speak without a podium, keep your notes nearby. They're your security blanket.
Tell your audience you've drawn a blank. They'll understand, and their understanding will make you relax, which in turn will help you remember. Ask, "Where was I?" and someone will tell you.

"I won't be able to answer people's questions."
You don't have to have all the answers. You just have to know how to get the answers so you can say, "You've stumped me. I don't know the answer to that question, but I do know how to find it. If you give me your business card, I promise I'll get back to you with what you want to know."

"I'll freeze."
This is most people's biggest fear. You're standing before a room full of people and you freeze. Your mind goes blank. You can't remember a single thing you were planning on saying.

thats all.
thank you

As a speaker, we all want to speak in public with confidence. Most of us at some point need to present our ideas or proposals to someone or to a group. It has been said that the number one fear is the fear of speaking in public. The following are some practical techniques on how to better manage the fear of public speaking and speak with confidence:

1. Rehearse - practice your speech with family and close friends, which will give you confidence later for your audience

2. Relax - deep breathe before you face the audience to reduce your nervousness and to relax your voice

3. Feel no pain - there's no penalty if you forget some points or if you do not make eye contact with everyone: you will do well

4. Just say it - you are the subject matter expert and your audience is there because they are interested in what you have to say

5. Show sincere interest - be enthusiastic and energetic about your topic and people will mirror your attitude

6. Use your body - move your eyes, mouth, head, arms and legs as you speak to emphasize and dramatize points and add interest and variety to your speech: this is entertaining to your audience

7. Smile often - it's infectious: when you smile, your audience smiles with you

8. Enjoy your spotlight - absorb the applause from your delighted audience as you complete your speech and remember this great feeling for your next one

Assalamualaikum. Want to feel more confident when talking to people? I will give you tips and advice on how to deliver a speech or presentation that is worthy of you being a public speaker.

1) You need to understand that it takes practice to be a great speaker when presenting a presentation or speaking to a group of people. Whether you are speaking for your classmates or a group of policy makers for a law, you are going to be nervous. This is okay. Even with great practice, you may still feel nervous and your adrenaline will rush to you. That's natural. Some of the greatest motivational speakers in the world didn't start off talking to crowds of people with the passion and public speaking skills they now possess. They had to work hard to reach that skill level. So don't despair when you have to present something or get up and speak in front of people.

2) You have to practice your speech numerous times before you actually do it. This will help you become more comfortable with presenting your speech. Use note cards to highlight what you are going to be talking about. You don't want to put everything word for word on what you are going to say on the cards. You just want to put enough to jog your memory of what you are going to say as you are delivering your speech. Try practicing your speech in the mirror or in front of a group of your friends or family members before you present it. This will help you gain more confidence and give you valuable practice on delivering your speech.

3) When you are presenting your speech, be sure to stand up tall and look confident. You want to be smiling and making eye contact with as many people in the room as possible. When talking, be sure to use a nice tone that everyone can hear and use voice variety so your voice doesn't start to bore the audience. You also want to avoid fidgeting or shuffling side to side. Place your hands on the desk and remain still and centered. Another thing is to avoid looking at your note cards too much. They are not for you to read from but rather to jog your memory just in case you forget what you are supposed to be talking about.

4) At the end of your speech, ask anyone if they have any questions and wait about one minute. If no one has any questions, then thank every one for reading your speech and discreetly walk back to your seat.

5) If you want to enhance your speech or presentation, you can incorporate other ideas into your speech too. You can try using visuals or slideshows in your presentation. Or you can engage the crowd in your speech by asking a question or playing a game or telling a joke or two for example. This will help make your experience with the crowd more memorable.

Thank you

Before this, it become a nightmare for me if i was forced to speak in front of the audience as lack of self-confident. After i read the article, i am finally find the right path for me to overcome all the nerves as speaking in front of the audience with full of confident.
there are some example of how to speak with confident :

Speaking or giving a talk publicly can be very nerve racking. If you find it hard to speak in front of a crowd then doing so may make you panicky, break out in a sweat or just extremely nervous. To try and avoid nervousness and to speak confidently it is best to be prepared.

Unless in can’t be helped and you have a set topic to speak on, always try to speak on a subject you know well and may be comfortable to talk about.

Assalamualaikum Madam, i totally agree with you on how to gain your confidence during giving speech. From my point of view fear of public speaking is a common phobia. The idea of standing in front of a large group with all eyes on you can be quite overwhelming. But it doesn't have to be. The best way to overcome this fear is to gain confidence in your ability. Here i would like to suggest more way to gain confidence in giving speech.

Practice. There is wisdom in the old saying, "practice makes perfect." The more you speak in public, the easier it will be and the more your confidence will grow. So just make yourself do it whenever the opportunity arises.

Be prepared. If you feel prepared and you know your topic well, you will feel more confident about your ability to speak about it. If you are speaking on an unfamiliar topic, research and learn what you can so you will feel confident when the time comes to speak publicly.

Rehearse but do not memorize. If you try to memorize your speech, you may be causing yourself undue stress. There's no rule that speeches must be memorized-in fact, you can come off sounding robotic and monotone. Instead just rehearse your speech, making yourself comfortable enough with the content that you can improvise. You will come off sounding more natural and confident if you can speak conversationally, rather than as if you were performing a soliloquy

Think positively. If you tell yourself that you are going to fail, you probably will. Conversely, if you tell yourself that you will succeed, you will. Telling yourself that you will succeed will definitely boost your confidence.

That's all thank you!!

How to Give a Speech with Confidence?
I have some tips to share. There are:

Things You'll Need:
• Your speech
• Yourself
1. Step 1
First things first, write out your speech. This is so helpful for so many people, including myself. Even if you can't use note cards or written notes during your speech, going over your speech with a hard copy many times will help you so much in the end.
2. Step 2
Another great way to get comfortable with your speech is to record yourself saying your speech, then play it back over and over again. Recite your speech with your recorded speech. You don't need a fancy recording device. Many cell phones have recording capabilities. This will allow you to accurately space out your words and give you a round about idea of how long your speech is going to be (time wise).
3. Step 3
Eye contact during a speech is critical. If you can use note cards, many people fall into the habit of constantly looking down, even though they already know their speeches by heart. If you feel uncomfortable looking your audience straight in the eyes, try looking to something relatively close to them. For example, try looking at the back of their chairs, or the top of their heads. Focus on their glasses, or possibly their noses. This will at least give you the illusion of eye contact, making you look (and feel!) more confident.
4. Step 4
Posture is another important part of a speech. If you are hiding behind a poster, or shrinking behind a podium, your audience will notice. Stand up straight. Body language says more than you know. If you know you have a habit of shrinking behind a podium, (and you are a girl) try wearing high heels (men: try wearing shoes that give you the appearance of being taller). This way, even if you do hide behind something, your height will almost cancel that little factor out.
5. Step 5
Dress appropriately. Your clothes will say a lot about you. If you are giving an important speech, dress nicely. No blue jeans, no old sneakers, no tee shirts. Do your hair. Put on make-up (if that applies to you). If you dress nice, you will feel nice. If you dress confident, trust me, you will feel confident.
6. Step 6
When giving your speech, remember to breathe! Many times anxiety will make us rush through a speech. By the time we're done the first few sentences, we're out of breathe and almost panting (which makes you feel even more nervous because now you can't catch your breath!). Just remember to space out your words and to breathe naturally. It's better to have an extra second or two between your sentences than to have your sentences become jumbled together while you are heaving for air.
7. Step 7
Finally, practice, practice, practice. The more speeches you make, the more comfortable you will become in front of an audience. Remember who your audience is too (Giving a speech in front of your peers is a lot different than giving a speech in front of strangers. Giving a speech to a bunch of children in kindergarten is a whole lot different than giving a speech to your boss and his bosses).
8. Step 8
Just remember these few and easy steps, and practice it.

Assalamualaikum to Mdm Emilia.

This is something from what I have learnt and I want to share with everyone. This is some tips on how to speak with confidence.

Enjoy your mistakes.
Something is going to go wrong when you give a presentation. It always happens. So know that from the start, and don’t get rattled when it happens. Use the mistake to your advantage, don’t get flustered by them. Don’t try and make it all better. If you try and correct the mistake and make it perfect, you’ll often get bound up in a decreasing circle of mistake on mistake, until you melt into a puddle of embarrassment on the podium. When the overhead projector falls over, or you say a sentence backwards, or some other disaster happens, Smile. Don’t try and fool the audience into thinking it didn’t happen, acknowledge the mistake with a smile and work it in to your presentation. Often this is a very good time to get the audience’s attention back on track. They’ve had a little break, maybe even a little laugh. Laugh with them, and take the time when their eyes are definitely on you to make a small summary, point out a particularly important idea, or move smoothly into a new subject.

Practice the things you have to do with your hands.
I don’t mean gestures. Those should never be practiced, they’ll look practiced. I mean things like slides, mice, turning equipment on and off. It may seem like the easiest thing in the world to flip a slide over, but it becomes a lot harder when you’re in front of a room full of people and you’re talking while you’re doing it. Just take the time to get some slides (or whatever you’re using) and practice talking and swapping slides at the same time.

Write a ton, say less.
Always prepare more material than you can ever use. When you are speaking, time does funny things, like slows down a whole lot. What you thought would take you an hour to say gets blurted out in 20 minutes. So prepare a lot of stuff, but not necessarily all new stuff. A very useful technique is to repeat important ideas at various points in your presentation.

Assalamualaikum..,thank u madam for your tips. I will try to use the information to build the confident in my speech soon.

But, i also want to share a simple tips how to speak confidently when having public speaking.

1.When rehearsing, practice speaking to the room as if the audience were in front of you. You wouldn't stop part way through and ask to start again in front of an audience, right? Under pressure, how you practice is how you'll perform.

2.Avoid the temptation to speak in front of a mirror or a video camera (it's distracting) and instead focus your energy on what it feels like to present in the moment.

3.Practice speaking with your friend(s) or your parents.

4.Prepare a good plan of speaking. There should be: An opening, 3 good middle points, a summary (conclusion)

5.Don't try to speak on too many issues. In addition, don't wander off the topic.

6.Think carefully before you talk. Use silence; it can be a great ally and cause the audience to hang off your next words, wondering what you are about to say. Don't be intimidated by silent moments.

7.Practice a lot beforehand. If it's for a presentation or a speech, the more you practice it, the more it will take on a life of its own and feel more comfortable to deliver.

8.Concentrate on one person. Maybe practise in front of them, so that it feels like you're just talking to them.

9.Connect with your audience. Use feelings and gestures to intensify a point. Just don't overdo the gestures or emotion - a little goes a long way.

10.Don't look directly into people's eyes. Focus on their foreheads or on a place at the back of the audience, just above the heads in the audience. That way you won't feel distracted.

11.Let go of assumptions. Just because an audience is not smiling or nodding in agreement does not mean they aren't listening or feeling positive about your talk. People often do not display encouragement on their faces in an audience situation, so don't seek it. You'll know from the applause level at the end how well you went and by then, the speech is over!

salam..

first of all i want to thanks for the article. it is really useful.

people always fear of something even though they have full confidence. so, i would like to share some useful tips on how to overcome a fear of public speaking.

1. Realize that you have information that the audience wants; you have something to offer. That switches the locus of control away from the audience and on to you. You are the person in charge, because you are the one in the know. The audience is not in charge therefore, why be afraid of them?

2. Think back to when you were a child and remember how you used to love to perform for your parents, teachers, even sometimes strangers on the street. Getting up in front of a group is a great way to get attention. You wanted that as a child, so why not be honest and admit it to yourself that you still want it now. Instead of shying away from it in your mind, go towards it. Try fantasizing about how great it will be when everyone is paying attention to you. Imagine how you will feel when everyone claps.

3. Think "I am offering a gift" rather than "I am being scrutinized." Realize that you are a unique human being; there is no one else in the world exactly like you and nobody else has a mind which is exactly like yours. Therefore, when you share your thoughts with others, you are truly giving them a gift they can get nowhere else. Be generous and open up and share your intellectual wealth.

4. When you get up to speak, if you feel frightened, realize that so many other people in your audience would feel frightened too, because this is such a common phobia. Therefore, if there is a little tremor in your voice or you don't appear one hundred percent cool, calm, and collected, your audience will empathize with you rather than punish or shame you. Because they will recognize that you are doing something challenging, their respect for you will increase. Therefore, don't become frightened about feeling frightened. Accept how you are today. Acceptance is the way to make things better.

5. Realize how much you are helping others, and feel good about yourself. When you get up to speak, others will say to themselves, "They did it and so can I!" Your courage will inspire others. Taking a moment or two to think about that will make you feel proud and therefore less afraid.

i hope this will useful to everyone.
thank you.

after reading this article it really useful for me to improve myself and get confident in front of audience.

this is some tips for improve confident

1. Charisma isn't the same thing as confidence, but appearing confident can make you more charismatic because your confidence will put others at ease and inspire faith in your abilities.

2. Improve your posture. Nothing conveys confidence like good posture. Stand or sit up straight, but not rigidly. When you meet someone, give a firm handshake and look the other person in the eye. (Please do not squash rings. Ouch!) Display positive body language while you're talking to someone and even when you're just waiting around. Sit facing the person or people you're talking to, uncross your legs and arms, and keep your hands away from your face. Look at ease, and don't fidget or convey nervousness.

3. Be anyone's equal. No matter to whom you are talking, treat them as an equal. If you're talking to a potential employer, a group of wealthy donors, a child, a stranger, or an attractive guy or girl, for example, don't put them on a pedestal or talk down to them. Be respectful of other people, of course, but respect them as equals, and expect that they will accept you as such.

thank you .

i am interest give feedback about this sentence.

"Unless you will be standing behind something like a lector or table, try to put the points for your talk on to small cards that you can hold in the palm of your hand. This way it will be easier for you as you will not be struggle with sheets of paper. It also it hides your notes from your audience."

the table some time given more advantage to speaker.. where when the speaker in critical situation..hand vibration/shake or nervous.. the speaker will hidden it by hold the side of lector..

the small cards it not too suitable.but still can applied.. i think it is better using the small note that have comb binding. This way it will be more easier for you as you will not be struggle with sheets of paper.and need to arrange one card by card.. and this way given advantage. if using small card.. if the 1 card lost,or fall down your point will disturb an damage the point of speaker need to present.

that all.
thank you.

salam.. how to speak confidence? for me.. why make me so confidence?? i love to practice with my friends. here some public speaking tips can we shared together..

According to The Book of Lists, the majority of people list public speaking as their number one fear. It outranks snakes, flying, even death! But we can't always avoid it. Many of us are called upon to give reports at work, address the PTO or even give a toast at a wedding. How do you survive such an ordeal? Easily with a little time and practice.

The most important rule of public speaking is to know what you are talking about

It might seem silly to say but often speakers don't have a clear idea of what they want to convey to their audience. You need to know exactly what you want your audience to come away with. Once you know, boil that down to three or four points and elaborate on just those points. You are not a human encyclopedia, too much information can be just a deadly as not enough while giving a speech.

Practice - but not too much

Work out what you are going to say and practice doing it out loud once or twice. It's always a good idea to time a speech so that you know you will fill your allotted time slot but don't run it into the ground. Very often spontaneous moments will occur during a speech that will surprise you and delight an audience. You never want to appear as if you're doing a speech for the 1000th time, you will appear bored and uncaring to your audience.

It's also a good idea to work out what you will wear. Make sure it's something you feel comfortable in, something you can move in. Most importantly, make sure it's something you know you look terrific in. Deciding what you will wear ahead of time will make you less nervous the day of the speech.

Be yourself

So many people feel they need to adopt another persona while speaking in front of an audience, it's as if they feel they're not important enough to hold an audience's attention. Some speakers become stiff and deadly serious and forget that humor can be one of a speakers most important tools. Don't just regurgitate facts - personal anecdotes and stories can be a wonderful way to reach out to an audience.

thank you(",)

Assalamua'laikum, Madam Mimi..

Thanks for the tips, it really help me a lot. I will try to improve my speaking skill based on your tips. I also want to add a little of my opinion to help speaker feel confident during give a speech.

Prepare and practice before goes up on the stage. Practice makes perfect. You will feel just a little of nervous if you prepare early before the speech.

As a Muslim, before goes up to the stage, pray to God to give us the confident to give the speech. Start our speech with Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Then, wish prayer to Rasulullah saw as our spiritual leader in this world.

Better drink a glass of water before make a speech. It can help you feel relieve or energize to give your speech. It also help you to talk very well so you don't feel uneasy in your throat during speaking.

Add acting or singing or something humor into your speech to make you don't feel nervous and feel confident that you just get their attention. Something entertain can relieve the pressure between you and the audience and the environment.

Lastly, increase your voice so you feel the spirit and the energy in your speech that can decrease your nervous feeling and help you give a good speech.

That's all from my opinion and I do like to share if I have additional information. Thank you.

by reading your post,it makes me realize how important to speak confidently in front of people. or else we only make fool of ourselves in front of people and people will laugh at us on how fool we are if we're not speak confidently.

speaking of how important to speak confidently,me myself trained to not show to people that we are not confident of ourself. i must show that i am confident enough while giving my speech. i must know what topic am i giving and realize how important i am. this is the only time to show that i am more confident with myself than i really are. while walking to give a speech, walk with posture, don't show to people that you are not comfortable with yourself. don't slouch! that is the most important thing.

eye contact is the most challenging part. look straight to your audience eyes so that people know that you are not afraid at all even if deep in your heart God knows how you felt. by doing this people will never ask questions a lot,it will end up with nothing. looking away when they come to talk to you will just show you're not feeling courageous enough to talk to them.

do not mumble yourself. speak clearly will show how not cowardly you are. those intimidating people will understand what you say. speak as you want to speak will blew people mind. i meant like speak like you don't care but do not speak outside the topic. just stand up straight and they can't rule your life and they are not any better than anyone else.

thank you.
