Assalamualaikum............

I have watched your video about bad public speaking example. It’s so funny and make me laughed especially when that guys eat the cake and shoot ‘the alien’. Sometimes, we do not relies we make mistake and do a bad speech. For example, people forgot to turn off their phone and sometimes people block the face during give speech because ashamed or nervous.
Here I want to give opinion how to avoid bad public speaking :
1. Avoid constantly making "um," "err," and "uh" noises during your speech. If you can't find the word you're looking for, then just pause for a moment. That's much better for the audience than constantly hearing fill syllables. You can say the "um" in your head if that helps you, but just don't let it out of your mouth.
2. Step 2
Don't begin your speech by apologizing for your lack of adequate preparation. Even if you really weren't able to get a great speech together, you don't need to notify your audience - that will just better help them find fault with your speech.
3. Step 3
Don't fidget, jiggle, or play with objects like keys, coins, or notes. Doing so directs valuable energy from your speaking and is a definite distraction to your audience.
4. Step 4
Avoid constantly speaking to your notes. You want to connect with your audience and have a conversation with them. While you must look at your notes from time to time, be sure that you know every aspect of your speech well so that you can spend a good bit of your time looking at the people in your audience. It's rather disappointing to the audience for them to expect a speech but instead come for monotonous mumbling and a good look at the top of somebody's head.
5. Step 5
Don't use jargon or "high language" that's unintelligible to your audience. Some speakers, especially beginners, think that's impressive. It's not. Not only that, but it's very possible that you will alienate your audience. If you must use a "big word," then explain it without appearing condescending.
6. Step 6
By avoiding these distracting speaking habits, you can be sure that your next speech will be the best you've ever made!

I hope this tips are useful. Thank you.

First and for most, I would like to state here that, even not for the 5% I will still give my comment on this clip. This is a very creative invention that I believe is also a very good and effective teaching tool and learning method. That is because people tend to remember what they have seen and listen much longer compared to what the have read.

The video shows the that it is a must to keep our cell phone of during the entire speech. this is because, cell phone is considered as an interruption during any talk or speech, and even in classes. The sound from the cell phone can snatch away your listeners attention as well as stopping the 'speech mood' of yours.

the second issue is to dress properly. The way you dress affect on your listeners impression on you, which will lead to user attention to your speech. on the other hand, I personally think that dressing well is mostly for yourself confidence and your confidence is the key towards the attention of your listeners.

Why do you want your visual aids to block your face?Face it, you are not an ant and people have seen you, clearly!Hiding, personally means to act stupid. You have stand there so just speak and don't hope for the people not to see you because you will never be invisible-man.

Set up the technology properly. It happen to be important because that may affect your entire speech. Imagine your Microsoft Power Point slide cannot be open due to the software compatibility problem and your entire speech is related to your slide. I am sorry but your speech is already a disaster!

Filled pauses is annoying so just stop it!To have pauses in your speech is common but not filled pauses. Try a very quite or mute style of pause because that actually work even better.

You will giving speech to human, not to a sound recording machine. Human tend to take sometimes to pick up what they listen. So it is very important for you to speak withe the proper rate so that your speech is understandable by your listeners.

Honestly,I don't really understand about the alien thing.

Remember that you have listeners and they are humans that have limited time 'concentration moment'. People will get bored over a very long speech. so it is important to keep your speech simple and short.

Mind you manners. To talk while eating means no manners especially when you are giving speech.Seriously, what are you thinking?

Don't over articulate because you make hard for your listeners to understand you.Plus, you might end up in the hospital having serious tongue cramp.

Make peace no war.The actor need to choose his career whether to be a speaker or to kill people. But does that always happen in a speech, that killing situation?

Don't twist the facts.Talk straight forward and just keep everything simple.

Thank you. =)

interesting video.. even the video just acting and not the show real situation but it give some guide about public speaking.

answering the calls.. i found this situation when i attend in some of motivation.. the motivator phone actually not ringing. but may be vibrate only.. He still take her phone from pocket and look at the screen.. And may be it are important calling and answer the phone but, then he apologize to audience.. So i don't think it is wrong, but may be it have a 'ways' to answer the phone (important calling).

about the technology setup, this situation actually unpredictable event it properly set up before speaking.. such as blackout.. but the importance is how the speaker or person to cover the situation, the person should not show the critical situation..

last about eat in speaking time.. so i want to talk about one of television program "jalan-jalan cari makan" in their presenting about food , the lady still tasting their food to show how taste of the food.. So what i want to say is.. when speaking, eat is suitable for some situation but just eat or tasting the food not eat until the all food lost in audience eyes..

Assalamualaikum.

First of all, I would like to say thank you for that video that have shown above. I have seen the video which is very interesting.
I really like the content in the video. By watching this video, it will help me in becoming more alert when presenting a speech. Now I know that, this kind of things can spoil the way of delivering the speech. This will make the audience feel boring when listening to the speech. Remember that one of the important things in presenting a speech is to get the audience's attention.

Here, I want to share my opinion for that video.

1) Silent the cell phone
~ Before delivering a speech, you have to make sure that your phone was in silent. This will prevent you from spoil your speech. Now, many people does not realize that bringing cell phone with you or keep it in your pocket, you might be lost when your phone is ringing when you are presenting your speech.

2) Do not staring outside
~ You have to make sure that your eyes is used to commmunicate to the audience. As a speaker, it is imperative to know what kind of messages you are sending with your eyes.

~ If you look up to the ceiling while you are delivering your speech, the audience will judge you as a person who do not know to get the audience's attention. This will give a big impact to you when the audience starting to condemn your speech because they do not know the overall flow of your speech.

3) The use of dress to communicate.
~ Just like in any face-to-face situation, your dress is interpreted positively or negatively.

~ Don't wear loud shoes. Every step you take could distract your audience.

~ Don't wear clothes that are too hot for you. Remember, as soon as you get up there you may get nervous.

4)Poor outlining.
~ Public speaking require you to outline your speeches. When you blow this off, this is a big mistake. Even if you are not getting graded on your speech outline, it is important because it helps you organize your speech. If your speech is disorganized, you will lose your audience from listening to your speech.

All of the above are my opinion on how to overcome the bad public speaking.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum.

Thank you for the great video on bad public speaking example. When I watch this video, i have take a note as my guide.

1) Silent phone.

Before start our speech, we have silent or switch off the phone. This is because we can concentrate while giving a speech.

2) Dress Properly.

Before start giving a speech, we have to look at our dress up whether it look nice and tidy or not. When we giving a speech with dirty dress, it will make our audience may not interested to hear our speech and make audience feel bored.

3) Don`t speak too fast.

While giving a speech, we don`t have speak too fast and we just speak slowly. Audience may not understand what we are saying about while speak too fast.

4) Don`t saying the same word many times.

When giving a speech, we could not repeat the same word too many times. It make audience think that we are not ready for giving a speech.

5) Don`t eat.

When we eat while giving a speech, it make audience could not understand what we trying to say. It make audience feel bored. We must show respect to our audience with not eat in front of them.

Thank You.

Thank you for sharing the video with us.It's quite funny and give a lot of information of how to prevent something that can make our speech becoming the bad public speaking.

I want to share some tips with all about the preparation before speech;

Acceptance
Your first enemy if you have public speaking anxiety is yourself. In accepting that, challenge yourself that you can overcome your public speaking anxiety.

Preparation
The key to a successful speech is preparation. Know your material well. Your ability to communicate with your listeners depends on the quality of your research. You can never be confident in delivering a haphazardly prepared presentation. Know that ultimately, nothing can go wrong if you are ready and prepared for anything.

Practice
Practice makes it perfect. To overcome pubic speaking anxiety, rehearsal is a must. Time your speech and treat each rehearsal as if it is the big day. Begin this exercise by facing yourself in front of the mirror while delivering your speech. If you feel comfortable with that, invite a friend to hear your speech. Once you have become comfortable speaking in the presence someone else, invite some friends and members of your family to hear you talk in order to prepare you for a bigger crowd. Do this until you feel comfortable in public speaking to a number of people.

Bulleting
Memorizing what you have to say is the worst thing you can do as you may forget your words. It is more effective if you make bullets points in paper (not cards). Never read your speech because reading is not public speaking.

Be early to the venue
If you are given the chance to visit the venue before the big day, better grab that opportunity and practice delivering your presentation on the very same podium where you will engage in public speaking. On the big day, overcome your public speaking anxiety by being at least an hour early at the venue so that you can make yourself comfortable with the environment. Approach the podium and stay there for a while until your public speaking anxiety is reduced. Don’t rush. Just breathe.

Relax
Always tell yourself that it is normal to feel nervous. Even seasoned speakers still feel jittery right before a public speaking engagement. Think of positive thoughts and reduce your public speaking anxiety by taking deep breaths. Talk socially to people before the program begins as it will help you reduce stammering.

Engage your audience
While waiting for the program to start, introduce yourself to your audience so that you will feel comfortable talking to them. Maintain eye contact with your audience, especially those whom you know, as it creates a connection.

Remedy when you lose track
If you lose track of the sequence of your speech and you don’t know what to say next to , do not panic. One technique to get away with this is to throw a question to your audience. The time they take in answering will give you ample to time to reorganize your thoughts and get back on track. Such interactive method will not only help you overcome your public speaking anxiety but can also enliven your presentation

Visual aids enhace a presentation by helping the audience to more easily understand and remember our information. But, don't block your face with the visual aids like on the video. We must maintain eye contact with our listeners while explaining or displaying our visuals.

First of all, thank you for sharing this video. It is a funny and exciting video to watch for but i don't think many people will do that such things since there are many butterfly in their stomach while giving a speech. Picking a phone in front of many people while deliver a speech would be rude. It shows that we don't take it as serious as it should be.

Other than that, while we are giving our speech, we should dress properly. This is because dressing is the first things that audience wiil note. Our dressing will indicate many things since each of the audience will have their own opinion about us. Dress properly are one of the contributing factor to reduce our nervous feeling and increase our confident level.

Next, don't pause too much while giving a speech. if we pause too much, the audience will expect that we are not ready to deliver our speech. Plan our visual aid properly is also one of the way to deliver a good speech. make sure that the visual aid is in a good condition before we giving a speech and don't blocked our face with the visual aid. This is because the audience want to see our face while we are talking.

We should plan our timeframe in order to make our speech affected to the audience. Don't take too long and too short of time. This is because too long of time will make the audience bored and too short of time will make the audience wondering what we are talking about. eating while giving a speech is also the things that we should'nt do.

last but not least, don't be over-articulate. Just use simple language so that the audience will understand easily of what we are talking about.

First of all, thank you so much maddam, for that funny and knowledgeable video. I totally find out so many thing that we can not do during giving a speech, such as turn of cell phone, dress appropriately, use visual aids properly, keep speech in an appropriate timeframe and etc. There are too many in this video, 11 or 12 if I'm not mistaken. so, what we are going to do after give a "Bad Speech"? just forget it or what? I want to share something here that we can do after we gave bad speech. I post it here because not all of what we have prepare before its done prefectly right?

When we are give a bad speech Maybe it wasn't the most horrible speech in the history of the world, but it definitely won't be winning any awards.

So you, the embarrassed, humiliated, angry-at-yourself speaker have a few decisions to make. But before you do, it's important to take a few deep breaths and perhaps allow yourself to mourn. but for no more than 24 hours.

Let's face it - speech makers can't and won't be "on" all the time. Even the most prolific speakers occasionally do questionable or downright horrible work. So a bad speech is inevitable, especially if you give plenty of them.

After you've calmed down a bit, it's important to look at your experience not from your own eyes, but from the eyes of an objective individual. Step away from your emotions and begin to ask yourself the following questions:

1. What was it exactly that made the speech ineffective?

Ditch the word "bad" - it's subjective and doesn't really mean anything. Aim to come up with some specific reasons that the speech didn't go over as planned.

2. Were there any elements of the speech that were out of the control of the speaker?

For instance, did the microphone constantly malfunction? Was the audience particularly hostile? Did the lights flicker on and off to the point of distraction?

3. If only one part of the speech could be changed to make it better, what would that be?

Perhaps the ending should have had more impact, perhaps a slideshow should have been included to add visual interest to the piece, or maybe the question and answer session should have been avoided at all costs.

4. Was the speaker prepared for the speech?

If the answer is "no", then what more could have been done? Was the research lacking? Was the speech maker trying to "wing it"? Was the speaker ignorant of the subject matter?

As you begin to answer these questions (taking your time and really considering each one), the "cracks" in the presentation will begin to appear. Write down all your thoughts as you go through this evaluation process - you'll want to use those notes to ensure that the same negative experience does not occur twice.

Once you have all your thoughts, ideas, and critical analysis on paper (or stored on the computer), it's time to do the most important thing of all - walk away.

Assalammualaikum to madam…

I already watch the video and its fun actually. Although it seem funny to me but if people realize it, that is happen for some people who doing the speech and that is really bad thing to do when doing public speaking. So I suggest before doing the speech, what people should do is:

1.Turn off cell phone because it time to give a speech and it’s important. Don’t make someone can disturb you when you doing the speech.

2.Dress appropriately. When you dress with something that not suitable for you when doing a speech, audience will think negative about you. So that makes you feel uncomfortable.

3.Don’t used filled pause. It makes audiences feel bored because too much pause.

4.Use visual aids properly (don’t block the face). This is because the audience or judge cannot see your expressions when giving the speech.

5.Make sure technology is set up properly before start the speech because it makes sure that your speech will go on smoothly.

6.Used proper rate. That mean should know how to control your voice, tone and pitch when giving a speech. Not too fast because its make audience cannot get what you’re saying and not too slow because it can make audience feel boring.

7.Don’t fight off alien attacks while giving a speech or although not alien, don’t make something stupid when doing a speech. It’s really BAD!

8.Eat. Better you eat before you giving your speech because it a rude thing to do while giving a speech.

9.Keep your speech within an appropriate timeframe. Set time for your speech. Not take a long time when giving your speech. Just give important point. If too long, that makes people tired, sleepy and bored hearing you speech.

10.Don’t twist the fact. That can make audience confuse with the point of speech that you giving.

For me, this is the reason why we cannot do the entire thing in the video when giving a speech. It’s not just bad for us, it also gives impact to audience and the audience will think negative about you and it will give impact to your mark to. So I hope people better avoid doing this thing when giving your public speaking although it’s funny but that such a rude thing to do.

Thank you.

Salam Puan Mimi.

There have some tips that I want to share with you all. Before you start your speech, you should be ensure that things that you already done.

Firstly, you must close you cell phone. You do not allow answering your call while doing the speech. It is because can show that you cannot respect you audiences that show your speech.

Secord is about dress. You need to dress appropriately while stay in front of people. This is so important because audiences can detect you from your dress. They can think that you series or not while doing the speech. You need to dress tidy and look comfortable with you own dress.

Next, you cannot eat while doing the speech. It is bad habit that cannot you do when make a speech. You should be serious when doing the speech and respect for your audiences.

Then, you must use visual aids with correctly. You cannot close your face while doing the speech with anything. Audiences want to see your face. You need to show the visual aids clearly to audiences. You also need to be preparing the technology matter that you want to use. You do not make your audiences waiting for long times to you repair your technology stuff.

Besides, you must avoid talking like that “urmm, aaa”. It is can show that you don’t make any exercises and practice before do the speech. Then audiences can be so bored while listen your speech. You also cannot to split for a long time. Even you don’t know what to say, just go through to the next point.

Lastly, this is a bad video, so that you need to be making much practice to make sure that you can do better than this and can get a good respond from audiences.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum

First of all i want to share that is the video is quite interesting because i can learn from the video how to give the good speech and not to do the bad thing when i giving the speech.

Firstly, when were are doing the public speaking we have to be prepared for example the phone we have to silent the phone or else just don't bring the phone because it will disturb your speech.

Then you must be aware about your dress it is because the dress is quite important thing for the speech for example when you giving the speech you have to wearing the suitable dress because it will affect your audience maybe your audience like your dress and then they will give the concentration on your speech.

Beside that use your visual act and don't block your face while giving the speech for example if you do the demonstrate speech and you want to show the audience the item that you have bring show the item clearly without affect your face because the audience want to see your face and it will interact the audience with your speech.

Next is the quite importance for the speech is don not eat while giving your speech it will give the audience bored with your speech and it quite rude for the people who is hearing and see your speech.

After that use proper rate for example in the speech you have to talk smoothly not to loud and not to slow because this will affect the audience if the audience can't hear your voice is like you talk with your friend beside you.

Lastly this video also improve the student not to make mistake and take advantages what have the people in the video has showed.

That's all thank you..

Salam madam,
Thanks for sharing with us this funny bad public speaking video. I enjoy it damn much and at the same time I’m learning what are you trying to say by this video. There are about 11-12 examples in this video if I’m not mistaken. Here I want to share some of my favorite part.

1) Turn the cell phone off
All of us must have one cell phone at least in our life but we don’t need to show off it. Why don’t we just turn it off or turn it in silent mode so that it won’t bother us while we speaking in front audience. I’m sure that if we having the same case we will automatically lose what we have set in our mind because it’s block our concentrations for the speeches.

2) Dress appropriately
Have you ever heard that dress will influence our style and communication? Yeah I’m totally agree with the statement because we talk based on our dress. So try to dress properly while giving a speech because audience might pay attention for your dress and this will help you to improve your speeches.

3) Don’t uses filled pauses
This “umm”, “err” and “uhh” noises are famous words that we always use while communicate with others. You must be don’t want to look foolish while deliver a speech right. So make sure that you take a deep breath if you lost what have you memorize to avoid you from using these familiar words.

4) Make sure technology is properly set up
Don’t you feel ashamed if you show your carelessness in front audience? So be prepared to check the items that you bring to while deliver a speech because everything can be happen and this will jammed your speech if it didn’t work like what you want.

5) Use proper rate
Woow. How could you talk that fast while audience listening to you? You want to give a speech and you want audience to lend their ears to you. How they will do that if they can’t understand you? So just relax, talk nicely and smoothly so that audience will give attention to your point and they will enjoy it.

6) Use appropriate timeframe
We don’t have so much time to stand right there delivers a speech. Why we want to waste our time to speak in front audience if we have nothing to say and that will just make audience feel bored with us? So be careful to take a look at your watch to make sure that you have a limit on your speech.

7) Don’t eat while giving a speech
We give speeches not because we hungry or we want to eat. So why you must react like that while deliver a speech. You will look silly and because audience staring at you like an alien.

8) Don’t over articulate
Yeah it’s a speech and our grade will be mark based on our speech and our language. But we don’t need to talk too articulate because it will just make audience confuse to get what we mean to say.

9) Don’t twist the facts
Facts are something that we can’t twist or manipulated because it based on the actual thing that really happened. If you twist the facts then people might ignored you because they will call you a liar. So if you know nothing about the facts, just talk about something else and make it life simple.

Thanks for this funny video because I learn a lot of thing that I should avoid so that my speech won’t include in this bad public speaking group. <3

An interesting video. The video provide guide to the viewer on how thing that we should not to do when giving a speech.
I want to add some other tips that we should not do in our speech.

1. Don't read from your notes.
This will give you a flat, canned delivery. Talk to your audience - don't read to them.

2. Don't read from your visual.
This puts more of your attention on the screen than on the audience. Refer to the visual, but talk to the audience.

3. Don't regurgitate a long list of facts, figures, or statistics. If all you do is recite the data, then there's no need for you to be there. The audience can read the report. Your job as a speaker is to humanize the information - with examples, analogies, anecdotes - to give it meaning and interest.

4. Avoid using overly busy slides. If the audience has to spend all its time trying to decipher your visuals, there's not going to be any focus on you.

5. Don't have too many visuals. If you're basically presenting a slide show, why are you there? Use visuals to complement your presentation, not be it.

6. Don't ramble. Get to the point. Audiences don't want to struggle to understand you and will eventually tune you out if they can't follow you. Organize your thoughts and follow a clear outline.

7.Don't exceed the time limit you've been allotted. This shows a lack of respect for your audience's time, as well as for any other speakers on the agenda. Know your time limit and prepare your remarks so that you'll finish within the time limit.

8. Don't talk above - or below - your audience's head. You'll only manage to antagonize them. Know your audience and relate to their interest in and knowledge of the subject.

9. Avoid dodging questions. If you evade a question or answer dishonestly, the audience will doubt your credibility on the whole subject. If you don't know an answer, or can't answer a sensitive question, be honest.

10. Don't lose your cool with a difficult or tough audience member. Getting defensive or angry will make you a villain in the audience's eyes. If you keep your cool and stay focused on the issue when someone is giving you a hard time, audience members will be more likely to see you as a victim and be sympathetic.

thank you..

Hahaha, such a funny video about public speaking.
Thanks madam want to sharing this good video with us. I think by showing this video to the students not only entertained the students but gives an extra knowledge for us. This learning method can gives a positives feedback from the student while gives a speech.
First the issue is we must to turn off cell phone during gives a speech. This is because cell phone can interrupt us in a many condition such as in meeting, classes or even in having a speech. The cell phone makes a sound that can take away your listeners attention. The listeners also disturbed by the cell phone sound and become bored to listen to your speech.
So make sure your cell phone in silent mode or off the phone to make sure your listeners stay away to listen your speech.

Issue to dress properly, speaker should know how to dress to build the character as a one who convey to deliver a speech. If you wear a not suitable outfit you will become not comfortable and lack of confident to gives a speech. You should wear something that can give you an inspiration to deliver a great speech.
You should not ever to blocking your face with visual aids. Why should you do that? If you do that, the listeners will aspect that you as a low confident person or want to act like. You should stand straightly and clearly shown the visual aid to the listeners. It will build a confident level for the speakers.
Issue about the technology, It’s important to the speaker if you want to show the slide shown to the listeners. Firstly, you must remember to check require site thing. Make sure the thing is in good condition.
Don’t eat in front of the listeners. Mind you manners. When the speaker eat while giving a speech, it make the listeners could not understand what we trying to say. We must show respect to our audience with not eat in front of them.
Last issue that attracted me is over act. The speaker should not have this bad character because it will make the listeners feel awkward with us and also they will thinks negatively about us.
That’s all for the issues that attract me to comment on for this post. Thank you ^^

firstly thanks for sharing this video with us about the bad public speaking, its very an interesting video.

Based on what I'm learn and see from this video,do not try this or make like this during the public speaking.

when we start or want to give a public speaking please avoid all of this things like:

1)Turn off our cell phone or set up to silent mode but i prefer better turn off during give a public speaking because it will bother our concentration and our audience while give a speech.

2)please wear a suitable clothes because from what we wear the audience can see and think about ourself whether we are smart person or other negative person that don't have a confident while give a speech.

3)please don't eat while give a speech because it will show that we didnt respect our audience and its very rude.

so from this video I've learn that please don't do this during give a speech because it show that how we didn't respect our audience, and doing this we also can't attract our audience.

thanks for sharing this video.its very2 interesting to me

1)silent the cell phone
when give a speech, we must turn off or silent cell phone. when the phone are ringing when we give a speech, this will cause our attention in giving a speech interrupted.

2)dress properly
the way you dress is the important things while you giving a speech. if you dress not properly and not suitable, the audience will look weird at you and they will not pay attention on your speech.

3)don't used filled pause
don't ever used words "err","aaa","mmm" when giving a speech. the audience will feel bored on your speech and they also will feel not interesting to hear your speech.

Hello there.
Thanks because sharing this video. When i watch this video, i realize many things that i always do while giving a speech.

I take some note from the video for future guidance.
Firstly, switch off phone. Some times when giving a speech, i never switch off the phone or switch to silent mode. Now, i better be careful with that.
Second, i always pause while giving a speech because ideas flew away. I always used words "uuhh","aa","hmmm" when giving a speech. This can make audience feels uncomfortable.
Thirdly, eating while giving speech. i always chew gummy while giving a speech. From now on, i will stop chewing while giving speech.

By this video, its a good lesson to me.Thank you.

Assalamualaikum...
first of all, thank you for the video about bad public speaking example. From the video,i get many information and it can improve my speech communication.

There are some information that I get from the video:

1- Turn off the phone
When give a speech, you must silent or
turn off the phone. It can disturb your
audience concentration & make you lost
focus when phone is ringing.

2- Don't eat
Audience cannot understand what you try
to say when you eat. You should be
serious when do the speech.

3- Dress appropriately.
You need to dress appropriately while
stay in front of audience.
Audience can look what the speaker's
wear. You need dress tidy & look
comfortable with your dress.

4- Use visual aid properly.
Don't block your face with the visual
aid. This is because audience cannot
see your expression when give the
speech.

5- Must eliminate Umm'ss and Aaah's
While speaking, sometimes you may get
stuck & take time to think of what or
how to say.
You must try eliminate the Umm'ss and
Aaah's. Silent pauses are better than
making such sounds.

interesting and funny video but it give good learning.even though its a simple video but it show the real thing. the things that always happen to any speaker. me also, if I'm nervous i always try to block my face.

like show in the video,i want to comment about a few point that given in the video.
firstly we should dress properly, it can make us more confident. if we not dress appropriately, when people keep staring at us. we can be more nervous.

next, turn off phone.
if we not silent phone, it will disturb our speech. sometimes, its maybe make people feel annoying.

next, don't eat. if you want to eat, eat before or after your speech. if you eat during your speech it will make your audience not focus at you and maybe your audience feel annoying.

and lastly, dont use filled pause. if you forget something just take a while to deep breath and then try to remember or just skip. it better than you "ummmh" or "uhm".

Hi madam..

Thanks because sharing this video. When i watch this video, I realize many things that I always do while giving a speech. that’s can help me to improve my public speaking.

I want to share information for this topic:

Don’t use the filled pause “umm, err, aahh” and another word.Avoid constantly making "um," "err," and "uh" noises during your speech. If you can't find the word you're looking for, then just pause for a moment. That's much better for the audience than constantly hearing fill syllables. You can say the "um" in your head if that helps you, but just don't let it out of your mouth. Eliminate Umms and Aas While speaking, take time to think of what or how to say when you stuck and forgot what you say. Silent pauses are the alternative ways and if you forget something just take a while to deep breath and then try to remember.

About the visual, you must make sure the technology already checked and must setup always before do public speaking. In case when something goes wrong in your presentation you can know and have back up .You can find alternative plans when have something happen at your technology. In the case you must have plan A and plan B for preparation on the public speaking.

DRESS WELL: Wear something that you are comfortable of wearing. Avoid wearing very tight clothes as that may give difficulties in your movement. I suggest for you to wear something with cool colors such as light blue or soft pink.Surprisingly, colours have its own role. Soft colours lessen the tension of the audience eyes which also helps your audience to feel calm throughout your speech. Do not dress like you are staying in for the day, i.e. sweat pants? Dress like you mean it and are interested in what you are doing. Dress like you are taking this seriously. What you wear says something about you and people take those who dress seriously, more seriously and think they are more competent. Also boy cut your hair and make sure you look tidy.

Don't point out your own mistakes. You are the expert on this topic during the time your speech is made.If you stumble, don't repeat sentences or phrases unless they are pivotal to your speech. Finish your speech before your audience does. Don't overstay your welcome on the podium. An audience appreciates a short organized speech over a long rambling effort.

Don’t take a long time for public speaking. when you take long time during speech you can make audience feel boring and want out from this place. Use the great time.
Don’t eat when you speech it make audience don’t respect you.if you hungry make sure you eat before them. Also don’t play and do another game during public speaking. You must turn off you phone before this, and make sure don’t pick up and answer the phone. It’s make you disturb and can failed your public speaking.

Focus on your audience and not yourself. Most stage fright is rooted in self-preoccupation. Don't ask yourself questions about your performance while you are giving it. Stop focusing on yourself. Focus, instead, on your audience and on what you want to say to them. If you are really concerned about how you sound during a speech just ask your audience. Believe it or not, it is very welcome.

SPEAK SLOWLY.Speaking slowly is does not mean that you make a fool of yourself. its mean when you speak to quickly the audience will not understand what are you trying to say, so speaking in your natural speed. every word on what you said is important

That’s all information I want to share.

Thank you

Assalamualaikum,
first time i watch this video,i think it is amazing video. Where, the video will make all the watcher laugh.Although, the video is funny, but there are many lesson that i can get from the video. Sometimes, we don't know that we do a bad attitude in our speech. This attitude will make the listener/ audience not understand about what we want to present. There are some bad attitude that we must avoid during our speech.
First, 'silent the cell phone'.When the phone of the speaker is ringing during the speech, it can make the speaker lost their concentration for the speech.Besides, the audience will not respect to the speaker because, sometimes the speaker will pick up the phone, and it show that the speaker is rude.
Second, do not eat when give a speech. This bad attitude will make the listener do not understand what the speaker talk about, and it can make audience boring to listen to your speech.
Third, dress properly when give a speech. This is because when the listener will attract to listen to our speech. This is the one of the trick to attract people to listen to our speech. Although the speakers not pretty or handsome, when they dress properly, audience will attract to listen what they want to talk. It is true, that 'don't judge a book by it's cover'.Besides, we will confidence to give the speech when we dress properly.
Fourth, use the visual aid properly. This is the common mistake that speaker always done. When we give a speech by using a visual/ picture, make sure the visual/pcture do not block our face and audience. If the visual block our face, the listener cannot see our expression and cannot hear our voice too.
Fifth, make sure the electronic things that we use is properly set up.When, the speakers use the electronic things they must set up it properly. If not, it can effect to our speech.
Sixth, don't use filled pause. We must eliminate Umm and Aaah during speaking, sometimes you may get stuck & take time to think of what or how to say.we must try eliminate the Umm and Aaah. Silent pauses are better than making such sounds.

Hello Madam Mimi.

Here are some other annoying public speaking habits. They can be deal breakers, so avoid these annoying habits at all costs!

Voice Trailing Off – Many speakers let their voices trail off at the end of every sentence. The audience can hear the first part of their sentence, but they have no idea what pearls of wisdom might be lost in the whispers at the end.

Looking Down – Sometimes this speaker will deliver complete sentences inaudibly while looking down — obviously not interested at that moment in engaging the audience.

Mumbling – Mumbling is not cool. Inexperienced speakers will often speak at conversation level, not giving any thought or consideration to the people in the back of the room. Recently, I sat in on a panel discussion at a workshop. The panelists chose to sit instead of stand to address the standing-room-only crowd, which I thought was rude. And one man, whenever it was his turn to speak, would rest his elbows on the table and fold his hands in front of his mouth during the entire time that he was speaking.

Reading – Some speakers are not good readers. If you are not skilled at reading something out loud, don’t do it while speaking. Especially avoid doing this secretly. In other words, if you plan to deliver your speech by reading all or part of it, and you do not have good out loud reading skills, forget it.

Not keeping everyone involved - Inexperienced or thoughtless speakers leave members of the audience out. When an audience member asks a question, it is rarely heard in the back of the room. I’ve seen many expert speakers respond to the question by engaging in a one-on-one conversation with this person while the rest of the audience is left wondering. Speakers, I urge you to repeat the question so everyone is on the same page. And then respond to the question so that everyone in the room can hear it.

Sitting Down – Some speakers choose to sit down on the job. In a very small, intimate group or when the audience is sitting in a circle of chairs or on the floor, for example, speaking while seated is generally okay. But if you have a room containing six rows of chairs or more, you really should express respect for those in the back of the room by standing so that you can be seen as well as heard.

Filler Words – Even some professional speakers still use too many filler words. It takes practice, but you can rid your vocabulary (especially while speaking in public) of those filler words like, uh, ah, er. Also avoid connecting sentences by overusing “and.”

Overshooting Time Allotment – Many speakers have trouble staying within the time allotment. Most programs or presentations are carefully organized. Each segment is designed to fit into a specific time slot. I’ve seen speakers completely disregard their time constraints and foul up the entire evening’s program. Not cool.

Thank you for posting this hilarious video and this video reflect the most common thing that I have made during public speaking. Not all of us have the confidence to give a public speaking and when this happened we will end up similar to the guy that acts in the video.
-Turn cell phone off
Why must cell phones be turn off?. Cell phones must be turn off during speeches is because most of us did not know how to use the technology of silencing it. Cell phones can produce so many fantastic songs such "Hit me baby one more time", if you set it as ringtone of cause. This ringtones from cell phones can distract audience and even the speaker.
-dress appropriately
Make sure to dress appropriate attire when giving speeches. it can gain your confidence and most of all, make the audience feels they went to a right place.
-Don't use filled pause
This is the most common thing student did during speeches. Yes, i am a student and i did this most of the time. Actually, everyone can overcome this situation if they are well prepared. So the advice i'm giving here is be prepared when you want to give a speech.
-use visual aids properly (don't block face)
Next, use visual aids properly. Blocking yourself with any visual aids did not gain you confidence. so , why must you hide under it. Even though visual aids may attract the audience to hear about it, doesn't mean that you must or you can hide under it.
-Make sure technology is properly set up.
If you use any technology such as a laptop, make sure it works properly. by the meaning it works properly is there are no software corruption, software incompatibility or even low battery power.
-don't fight off alien attacks while speech.

I think the meaning of this phrase is that, don’t fight off interruption that came from the audience. Finish your words and then ask the audience if there any problem or question on your speech.
-keep your speech within an appropriate time frame.
Yes, there are many things to tell, but make it simple and full of information so that the audiences don’t get bored and sleepy easily.
-don't eat while giving your speech.
Your voice projection will not be clear if you are eating while giving a speech so avoid it. The food can wait until the end of you speech.
-don't twist the facts.
Don’t confuse the audience with twisted facts. It will lose the audience interest towards your speech.

Great creative invention of example of bad public speaking.Publishing this kind of video can be very meaningful to those beginner in this field of public speaking.

The commencement of a good public speaking actually begin long before the individual jump into the audiences. Those variables state in the video should be bare in mind of those speaker.

Here are some step to manipulate the bad output from the video.

Put your mobile phone on silent mode so that any sound from your phone will not disturb you.Try to avoid accepting any incoming call or even read something on your phone.Your dress up play a very important role. Not only to get high rate from the audiences, proper attire also improve your internal self confidence.

Avoid to pause your speech.Jump into the next content whenever nothing to be out from your mouth.Make yourself to be look interchangeable in front of the audiences.

Do not avoid to block your visual.Eye contact between speaker and audiences is very important.Rechecked every stuff you need to use before start your speech.

Use normal rate of speaking,so that every idea of yours grab by the audiences well.Do not do inappropriate steps, this will make you sound and look stupid.

If u state for the next 5 minutes you will talk about something else, make sure it is.Eating on the stage show you are some kind of rude and did not respect and appreciate those who lend their ears to you.

Do not twist the fact you had given earlier.Twisting the fact show you did not really know on what you're talking about.
Talk to audiences in a very proper way.Do not call audiences wit 'hey','you over there', and other improper way.

Lastly, this kind of video can be a good lecture to those beginner, but still experiences is the best teacher.Last but not least thank you...

Assalamualaikum to madam Mimi

it was funny video of public speaking.
i want to share with you how to solve it

firstly as we can see his not silent his phone during giving his speech. because when the person not silent his/her phone, it can interrupt the person who give a speech. the person will not focus on speech.so when we want to give a speech make sure do silent phone.

after that you must be serious to give a speech and make sure the point of speech can be understand by then audience.

furthermore the speaker must give a speech slowly(not faster) but not too slow that can audience understand.

next do not look down during giving a speech.
because when the speaker look down, the audience will not understand what the speaker said because not clear.

during give a speech, you must wear a proper dress because can gain your confidence and the audience will now they attend at the right place. what your opinion when the speaker wear a dress like clown?

do not eat during speech. When we eat while giving a speech, it make audience could not understand what we trying to say. We must show respect to our audience with not eat in front of them.

that's all
thank you

Assalamualaikum madam...

I have been watching this video. It`s quite fun.Eventhough this video has sense of humour ,it give information about public speaking for example :
1. Silent phones
During the public speaking ,we should turn off cell phone. The tone of the cell phone can disturb audience attention and also our attention of giving a speech. The audience would say that the speaker did not respect them.
2. Dress nicely

With dressing neatly, the audience will think nicely to us. It can make the audience get bored n

3. “urm,emm”
Avoid “urm, emm” in presentation. It can make the audience det bored and waiting what the speaking will talk about

4. Don`t eat during presentation.
Audience will think dat the speaker dit not respect them

That`s all madam

Thank for the tips madam. I think, what he had done is wrong and disrespectful to the audience. As a speacher, we should have a good contact to the audience as our responden. When there is no responden, it's mean, our speach doesn't use by people and wasting time. So we should appreciating the audience's time that their have gave to us.

Eating when give speech: When u eat a food or chewing something, your pronounciation will be worse or bad than ever. No pronounce no mark. hehe

Silent the handphone: When u don't silent or off the handphone(hp), it will distract u from give a good and fluent speech to the audience. Furthermore, mybe u will forgot what u want to say to the audience because of the hp. So, moral of the story, silent hp before giving a speech.

wear a comfortable cloth: please make sure u as a speecher dress up wisely and comfortable ways. This make sure, me or other person can give speech in a good mood and avoiding nervous situation.

lastly, for me, we should give the speech with a calm mood and relax. When i can manage the stress or nervous, there will be easier to maintain my pronounciation and the information that i want the deliver will be clear.

Assalamualaikum, by the way, great video you have there madam. Really entertaining yet educative.

From all the not to do in speech that being told in that video

In my point of view, talking on phone while giving speech is strictly prohibit as it can considered as rude and it can interfere as you giving the speech.

Also the second point is dress appropriately, this point is also one of the important things that need to be aware of because the way you dressed up must be suitable with the topic of your speech as it can effect while giving your speech for example the topic of the speech is "The Almighty God" but you give your speech while wearing a singlet and a shorts, that's totally against human nature and also insulting the audience.

The third point in that video is don't filled up your speech with pause. In my opinion like what i learn in class, the cause of pausing when giving speech is either not enough practice, nervousness or didn't fully prepare to give that speech. Pausing can be reduce by always practicing in speech, either in front of the mirror or in front of your friend. If you have enough practice, automatically you will not feel nervous while giving speech and you must be fully prepare before giving your speech by making an outline of your speech so that you can easily catch up to your main point in your topic.

And also about the "make sure technology is properly set up" for me from what i learn in class it is similar to what madam say in demonstrative speech..and that is be well prepared before giving any demonstrative speech, practice is very important before giving any demonstrative speech so that you can delivered and teach the audience smoothly without any difficulties.

"Proper Rate" for me this point is related to the intonation of your speech, this is very important because, like what we see in this video, the "dude" over there giving his speech at very fast speed that hardly to understand what actually he try to delivered to the audience.

And lastly don't make your speech goes on too long because the audience will slightly bored by your speech. You can make your speech as simple as possible yet full of meaning and message that you want to delivered to the audience....

until then...thats all my opinion

I already watch that video about bad public speaking a few times. It is actually quite interesting and i have a lot of fun wathcing it. Sometimes, when we had public speaking, we overlook about our mistakes while sepaking. When we give a speech, we must silent the handset.Actually I had experienced it many times and when the video show the speaker eating, it truely happens in reality.
So, I want to share with u about how to be agood speaker.

1. Decide what kind of speaker you want to be:what are you good at?
What are you suited to?

2.Spend your time writing, preparing and committing your presentations to memory.

3.You need to practice often whether in the car,in front of the mirror else you can recruite your family or friend to be your audience.

4.Then, you tell them to give feed back from your speech. From that, you will know where is your mistakes.

So, thats all from me.
Thank you.

when delivering a good speech,u should turn your cell phone off.It would be annoying for your audience if u answer your phone in the middle of yr speech and they will lose attention on yr speech.
2.dress appropiately
ur dressing will display yr attitude.so in this case,a good speaker should dress neatly and be appropiate.

4. use visual aids properperly
the visual aids that u are using shouldn't block yr face.a good speaker should make a good eye contact with audience in order for u to successfully deliver yr point of speech.
5. make sure technology is properly set up

u shouldn't talk too fast because it will cause yr audience can't understand what u are saying.u should use suitable voice projection to attract the audience.

Assalamualaikum.

Have you ever seen a speaker do or say something that absolutely drove you to distraction? Things like jingling change in his pocket, or playing with her hair, or saying "um" every few seconds. If you want an appearance that's poised and credible in front of an audience, be aware of and avoid any of those little pesky traits that serve no purpose except to drive an audience crazy. If you remember that movement that's purposeful has power, then any movement that's not purposeful is a distracting mannerism. Let's look at three categories:

1. Anything you put in your hands. A prop gives you purposeful movement. If you held up a globe to point out a location in Asia, that would be purposeful. But if you didn't put it down afterwards, and just started idly spinning it on its axis while you were talking, that wouldn't be purposeful, just distracting.

Other examples: repeatedly clicking a pen, twisting a paper clip every which way, folding and bending your notes, fiddling with the cordless mouse so much that the PowerPoint advances several slides. None of these actions is purposeful, and the end result is an appearance that conveys anxiety and discomfort. The best rule of thumb is, unless you have a specific, purposeful use for an object, keep things out of your hands. That way, you won't be tempted to play with them.

2. Yourself. This includes playing with your hair, fingering a button, twisting a ring, playing with jewelry, tugging at your cuffs, shoving glasses up your nose, etc. It's one thing to purposefully brush a lock of hair out of your. But when those kinds of movements are repetitive, they serve no purpose, except to distract.

3. Vocal tics. You know, haven't you, um, ever heard, uh, a speaker who, you know, couldn't seem to, ah, get through a sentence, you know, without, um, filling it with nonwords.

These nonwords--also called fillers, vocal tics, word whiskers--have no meaning. They're not purposeful. The most common culprits are: um, uh, and you know. But it could be anything. I've heard speakers whose fillers were whole sentences. One that comes to mind is a man who ended virtually every sentence with, "Ya know what I mean?" When the fillers are overwhelming, the audience isn't listening to what you say. They're too busy counting the "ums".

I hope that you as a speaker should be aware and do not make such that things that will distract your own speech.

Thank you

Salam..

Thank you for the video that you had share with us. This discovery is very creative which I believe is also a very good and effective tool of teaching and learning methods. That's because people tend to remember what they see and listen compared with what they read.

Video showed that is a must to keep the phone during speeches. It is because, telephone considered as interference when we talk or speech. Voice of the mobile can attract audience and will cause you to lose focus when you give a speech and the audience will feel bored when you restart the speech.

Next is dress properly. The way you dress will affect your impact on your audience, which will result in your speech manual attention. Besides, when you dressing well, it can make for your self-confidence and it is also a way to attract your audience.

Don't use visual aids to block your face. It just can make you act stupid. Audience will annoying with you. You have stand there so just speak and ignore what people will talk about you. You just need self-confidence to speak with good.

You must remember that it is very important to keep your speech short and simple because the audience will feel bored listening to a very long speech. They are normal human beings. So, if you speak a long speech, audience will listen and remember a little of what you're trying to say.

Please be polite. To talk while eating means there is no polite, especially when giving your speech. It will only see you being rude. So, you must be careful with it.

Last, just do what you want and make it simple.

Thank you..

Salam madam...

Firstly, I enjoyed watching this video. It is because this video look funny.
But it contains important message for us. Especially for those who want to make a public speaking
or presentation. For me, the messages from this video is very clear.

As we know, we can't use handphone during we are giving the speech. So, we should silent the handphone
or don't bring the handphone while delivering the speech. It is to avoid from disturbing the audience's
attention.

I also ca see that we should use the visual aids properl. It is we use the visual aids to attract the audience attention.
When we use the visual aids in our speech, we must show it clearly and don't ever block our face. If not, the audience
can't get the clear explaination about the visual aids.

While we delivering the speech, we can't pause too long because the audience will feel boring and sleepy with aour speech.
It also wasting time.

If we want to use technology in our presentation, makesure it is in good condition. It is important because our speech is
depend on that technology. If the technology is not function, our speech will stuck and we may lost the idea.

We also can't eat whle delivering the speech. It is because it look so rude and the audience will not comfortable with us
although our speech is good.

It is the simple comment from me about some of the bad habit in public speaking when I've finished watching this video.
I believe that there are many bad habit in public speaking. So, we should avoid from make this habit during give the speech.

Thank you.

Thanks for post the video about the bad example of public speaking. This video show a bad habit during gives a speech. I will make sure that I will avoid all bad habit as in example from the video when give a speech. Here, I have summarized information based on this video.

1. Make sure to turn the cell phone off. When you want to give a speech, especially you want full concentrate. Turning on the cell phone while give a speech may will get unexpected incoming call or etc. It will distract your speech and also your concentration will lose.

2. Dress appropriately. Our dress is often the first impression. It is how people see us. It is one of the ways we communicate to others. Its suitable wearing a formal dress when give a speech.

3. Don't use filled pauses. Giving a speech like that is showing that you are nervous or might be run off the idea. For the solution is improving grammar and study speaking using sentence connector. Actually, you also can pause during give a speech. This pausing can use for transition and to allow the audience time to think.

4. Make sure technology is properly set up. Before give a speech like demonstrative speech, make sure all component or material is function or recheck the component. If the technology is damaged, make sure you have another plan to give a speech.

5. Don't eat while giving a speech. Even you are giving a demonstrative speech "How to make a ice-blended", never eating in front of audience to show that your demonstrate is successful.

6. Keep your speech within an appropriate time frame. Even you have so much idea to give a speech, make sure that speech is suitable time frame based on task. Take more time will cause audience get bored.

I have completely watching the video above. Haha.. It’s really funny. From the video, during delivering a speech we must :

1. Turn the phone off
Before we start our speech, we must make sure our phone is turned on or turn off. If the phone is turned on, we should turn off the phone. By doing this, we can fully concentrate during delivering the speech without any interruption.

2. Don’t use filled pause
“…um…” “…you know…” “…like…” “…ah…”

You’ve all seen it before. What would otherwise be a great presentation becomes one interrupted jumble of syllables. Instead of taking those key pauses to let the audience digest, every moment of hesitation is filled with a crutch word. Maybe it happens to you. Eliminating crutch words is one of the fastest ways to improve yourself as a speaker. Not only does it display confidence to your audience, but you become easier to understand as your message gets across.

3. Use visual aids properly (don’t block the face)
Visual aids help a speaker gain and then keep an audience’s attention. Moreover, they work together with the speaker’s words to reinforce his or her message. But, speaker must use visual aids properly by not blocking their face. This is because to remain eye contact between speaker and audiences.

4. Use proper rate
When you talk too fast during a presentation, your audience will not be able to keep up with you. Many speakers who speak fast think they are speaking slowly, but actually they are not. If you think you speak slowly, but people tell you that you speak fast, you better listen to them if you want your audiences to stay with you. Otherwise, they may still be at the point you made miles ago.

5. Dress appropriately
Dress in a manner that is slightly nicer than what you expect the audience will be wearing. You are the guest of honor. However, keep it simple and don’t overdo things like jewelry and make-up.

Assalamualaikum...

i want to comment base on the video that has been post...

1. turn the cell phone off
when u give a public speech, make sure that your cell phone is off because when you did not do that it will ringing and will disturb your speech and make you been lough by audience. it also represent your attitude just like happen in the video.

2. Dress Appropriately.
make sure that you choose appropriate dress for your speech. it will represent your speech. when you choose wrong dress for your speech, it will make audience that see your speech will lose their confident on your speech.

3. Don't use filled pauses
It is human nature to speech with these fillers when get nervous. In a public speaking setting though these fillers can seriously detract from your listeners ability to care about what you are saying.it also make you look not confident with yourself.

4. Use visual aids properly.
it's very good when use visual aids in your speech but make sure it help you in your speech but not helping you to block your shy face from the audience because it may look silly and the visual aids will not helping at all.

5.Make sure technology is properly set up.
when you using a technology, make sure it can be use and has been set up well. when it does not set up properly, it will interrupt your speech flow. it also will make your speech look bad event thought you have a good speech.

6.Use proper rate.
make sure audience is understand what are you saying. don't speak 2 fast and use not proper language.

7.Don't fight with audience.
when you give a speech to large audience make sure you don't pay attention to their facial expression and just ignore but not losing your eye contact with other audience.

8.Keep your speech within an appropriate timeframe.
when give a speech make sure that that speech is has a timeframe and does not take a long time to speak because it will make the audience get bored and lose their interest in your speech.

9. Don't eat while giving speech.
this habit will make the audience feel you are not respecting them and you may also get loose in your speech while eating.

10. Don't over-articulate.
when you articulate it will make your audience understand what are you saying but when over-articulate it will make it sound weird and the audience will get sick of it.

11. Don't twist the facts.
this is very bad habit. when you give a speech, make sure that the fact you have are true and never ever twist it because you will never know who is your audience. it it make you look silly and a liar.

that all my comment about the video that has been post by Pn Emelia.

Thank you.

Madam,

this is very funy video to watch and i think this is a serious bad public speaking. here i would like to comment some or maybe all of the examples. this is from my own opinion,

1. Turn off cell phone
When we speaks infront of the audience, we need to concentrate so that we would not forget the point and focus on the title. but if when we talk, and your phone is ringing, you will distract you and also the audience. So, it is much better if you turn of your cell phone.

2. Dress appropiately
I think what we wear represent of who we are. When we speaks, we need to make sure that what we wear are suitable with our speech.

3. Dont use filled pauses
I admit that i also use filled pauses when i want to remember back what need to be say. But i am learning not to use that anymore because it will make my speech not interesting and bored. So, make sure that you wont use it and remember what you need to say.

4. Use visual aids properly
visual aids are somethings that will help to make our audience more understand of our speech. when using it, dont block your face. Although the audience want to see that thing, they also want to see your face. So dont block your face because it is a vey bad habits.

5.Keep your speech within an appropiate timeframe
For me, we must know to predict timeframe for our speech. we must not finish our speech too early or too late.

6. Dont eat while giving your speech
Eat while giving speech is a such silly things to do. that action will make your audience feel annoyed and they dont understand what your speech is about.

okay. thats all from my own opinion.

Thank You.

This is very funny video... Here I would like to share my opinion. This is from my own opinion,

1. Turn off cell phone
During we give the speech, we should off the cell phone first. It because, the cell phone can disturb us during we give the speech. We should concentrate to the audience when give speech, if the or phone is ringing, this can affect us to think the points which want to include in the speech. We can answer the phone if that call is important, but we have to ask excuse from the audience.
2. Dress appropriately
I think dress we should be use during giving the speech is suitable dress. Because the dress can make the audience see us with full of confident.
3. Don’t use filled pauses
During we give the speech, we should not to take many pauses. It can make the audience feel bored. If we not remember our point, we should think in mind, and don’t let the sound “err”, “erm” out from your mouth.
4. Use visual aids properly
If we want to use the visual aids or something else, we should check first that thing is work or not. This can also avoid products that we use that do not work when giving speeches.
6. Don’t eat while giving your speech
Eat while giving speech is such silly things to do. This action will make your audience feel annoyed. And they can’t understand what we said because your mouth is full of food that you eat.

Assalamualaikum madam

This is a great clip that you have post madam. That guy is trying to show us on the don’ts when you are giving out the speech. It was a common mistake that people will actually make when making a speech.

From the clip we can conclude:

Preparation
Before giving out the speech we need to prepare our self first. Starting from made a good point in the speech to preparing and testing the prop that we want to use.

Dress code
When we want to give out a speech, the dress code or the type of dress must match the atmosphere or the environment. You don’t just give a way speech in a formal event wearing a short or just a singlet. So the type of dress you are wearing must match the “theme” or the environment of the event.

Simple and understandable words
Maybe you want to use a hard words or “big” words when giving out a speech, but please make sure that you and the audience know what it mean or else the audience will not get into the point on what you are trying to explain or you will get the wrong idea on what you are trying to explain.

Salam madam….

This video is an example of comically bad speech. This speech has its own message which a speaker must be aware of.

Firstly, when you are presenting in front of an audience, you are performing as an actor is on stage. How you are being perceived is very important. Dress appropriately for the occasion. Present the desired image to your audience. Look pleasant, enthusiastic, and confident.

Next, keep your speech within an appropriate timeframe. Usually, people tend to get bored easily and their minds start to wander around.. So, set your time wisely.

When using audio-visual aids to enhance your presentation, be sure all necessary equipment is set up and in good working order prior to the presentation. If possible, have an emergency backup system readily available. You must make sure that the technology is properly set up for your presentation.

Remember that communication is the key to a successful presentation. Do not over dazzle and torture your audience by articulate and simply twist the fact. Keep it simple in a way you communicate with your audience as it much easy to understand.

As for filled pauses, it’s kind a rude actually. Allow yourself and your audience a little time to reflect and think. Don't race through your presentation and leave your audience, as well as yourself, feeling out of breath.

If possible, avoid interruption in your presentation. Such as taking call, eating and especially avoid things such as that alien attacks thing. I think that thing is not necessary, plus I think it is really annoying to see that. Besides, what the speaker really want to deliver to the audience by doing such thing. Don't make up things that you don't do.

I understand that most people like getting the attention of the people with a good joke that relates to the topic. But, be aware of what kind of joke you were going to include in your speech.

So, use props wisely, treat your audience with respect and plan your speech well.

Thank you :)

Assalamualiakum Pn Mimi and all friends..

First time I watched this video it make me laugh and so funny but for the second time I watched it, I feel that this video it look like stupid if have some of us do like that such as shoot the alien, eat while giving a speech and talk for a long time until take 4 hours. What tips that I get from watching this video are firstly, we must turn off phone before we stand in front of the audience to give the speech. This will not disturbing us to give a speech and to make sure that the audience will give a full attention to our speech.

Secondly, we should dress appropriately which can make us feel more confidence to give a speech and audiences are interest to follow our speech and nice for them to look at us. Next, we should not fill pause and use a lot of “urm” or “aaa”. This will make our audience feel bored and are not interested to follow our speech.

Then, if you are using a visual aids, we must make sure that we use the visual aids properly and make sure it not block our face and not disturbing us during a speech. If we are using technology visual aids, we must make sure it function well and properly set up. Other than that, when we are giving a speech, we should ensure that we use an appropriate rate.

Besides that, we don’t have to fight off with the not importance thing like in this video that attacks whilst giving a speech; he shoot “the alien” and look like he is not normal person or in other word, don’t make something weird while giving a speech.

Moreover, we must ensure that we keep our speech within an appropriate time frame, means we have to make a speech in appropriate time like 4 to 5 minutes. Then we have to respect our audiences, we are should not to eat while giving a speech. This will cause your audiences fell that you are not respects to them. Next, when giving a speech we don’t have to over articulate. This can make your audience feel uncomfortable and don’t like with you and your speech. Lat but not least, if we are talking about something facts, doesn’t ever to twist the facts. This will make confuse to your audience and get objection from the audiences.

Thanks (“,)..

Do You Have Bad Speaking Habits?

As part of the process in preparing for my new role as adjunct faculty at the University of Miami’s Office of Professional Advancement, and the rolling out of our new two and one-half day UM Legal Marketing Program next month (hopefully), I’ve been paying a lot of attention to the subject of public speaking. As many speeches as I have given over the years, I still know that I can always get better.

There is a lot of good stuff out there in addition to the Great Public Speaking blog, which I really like. Yesterday, thanks to Findlaw’s The Practice Paper e-newsletter, I ran across another one. It is an article by Carmine Gallo, a communications coach/author/speaker with an impressive background. One of his columns in Business Week Online covered “The 10 Worst Presentation Habits” (click on arrows at top right to move through slides).

Here are the 10 bad habits:
1. Reading From Notes (know material so well, you don’t need notes – that isn’t to say you can't sneak a peak every once and awhile as I have mentioned before),
2. Avoiding Eye Contact (“maintain eye contact with your listeners at least 90% of the time,” according to Carmine),

3. Dressing Down (always dress appropriately, but “a little better than everyone else”)
4. Fidgeting Or Using Annoying Gestures (conveys nervousness. If guilty of doing so, practice with a video camera),
5. Failing To Rehearse (winging it is never a good idea, even if you know your material by heart. See an earlier post on this point here),
6. Standing At Attention (move around, use body language, be “animated in voice and body”),
7. Reading Your Slides (always bad – his rule for slides “no more than four words across and six lines down”),
8. Speaking Too Long (if you can get message across in less time, do it. Carmine says “listeners lose their attention after approximately 18 minutes”),
9. Failing To Excite Audience (tell them why they should be excited about your talk and give them a “reason to care”), and
10. Ending Without Inspiring (its okay to summarize your talk, but leave audience “with one key thought”).
So, how many bad habits do I have? Ain't tell’n. BUT I may see a point or two that I could improve on. How about you?

Visual aids is a tools or stuff taht we can use in order to help our speeches.
But, we must remember that the visual aids functions to ensure audience understands with what we're trying to deliverd.
Do not use the visual aids to cover our body, face. Do not blocking them with the aids stuff.
It shows that we are not confident at all and being so shameless.

If we giving the speech by using tecnology gadgets, please ensure first is it the gadgets working as well as their function.
We have to know and skillful in using the tecnology gadgets.

Do not be so fast and too slow because the audience might be missed the contents of your speech.

Do not take such a long time to giving a speech. The people might be boring to the long speeches and they will less focus on your public speaking.

8. Do not eat when delivered a speech:

Its not appropriate way if we eating during giving a speech, because it shows we are so rude and immoral.
We should behave more better to avoid the audience become less respect to the speakers.

That is my opinion after look over the video. The video is good because we can learnt the example of bad public speaking. The video also acts as the guide in order to reminds
us not to adapt the habits during giving the speeches in future.

Thank you and have a nice day!

ASSALAMUALAIKUM..

This video is very funny and very important for me as a student. here i want to comment regarding to the video.

a)turn off the cell phone. make sure your phone is turn off or in silent mode because it can disturb your concentration while giving speech.

b)dress appropriately. make sure you wear suitable clothes. for example if you give a speech to the high level audience, you must wear formal attire because it shows your identity and attitude.

c)use visual aids properly. make sure do not use too much wording because audience will get bored. you can use colorful visual to attract audience attention.

d)do not fight with the audience. if they ask you some questions, you must answer it properly and if them argue with your answer you do not have to fight them but just listen to them.

e)keep your speech within an appropriate time frame. you must make sure an alert with your timing. do not give a speech too long and waste your time. audience will get bored because you do not have any point to say. a good speaker give a short speech but very meaningful.

f) do not eat while giving a speech. this manners are not very suitable while giving a speech. it was so rude. you must respect your audience.

that's all from my own opinion. i hope i can improve my speech in future. thank you.

Assalammualaikum to madam mimi…

I have already spend almost an hour watching this video repeatedly again and again. Watching this boy making me laugh till my eyes rolled with tears since the video are very funny actually. Although its seems to be funny, the fact is this things happen for some people who doing the speech and that is considered as a really bad thing to do when doing public speaking. So I suggest before doing the speech, what people should do is:

1.Turn off or silent the cell phone because it is time to give a speech and it is always important to concentrate on giving a speech. You might lose the point of speech as when changing the point of speech when we. Don’t allow someone disturb you when you doing the speech.

2.Dress up with suitable and simple clothing. When you dress with something that not suitable for you when doing a speech, the audience will affected and started thinking negatively about you. So that will makes you feel uncomfortable.

3.Don’t used filled pause like “aahh..”, “urmm..”. It makes audiences feel bored because of too much pauses and that conditions illustrate that youre not really ready to present your speech.

4.Use visual aids properly. But don’t overdo it until the visual aids use is blocking your face. This is because the audience or judge cannot see your facial expressions when giving the speech. This could causing confusing, misunderstanding, and alteration of concentration of the audience and judges.

5. Make sure technology needed is set up properly before start the speech because it makes sure that your speech will go on smoothly. If not, problem might occurs when you were presenting the methodologies to the audience and this could cost the credibility of the product, of course!

6.Used proper and variables of voice tones. These including on how to control your voice, tone and pitch when giving a speech. Do not presents too fast because its make audience cannot fully understands what you’re saying and not too slow because it can make audience feel jaded and boring.

7. Please don’t lost concentration when you are giving a speech. Don’t do a something stupid infront of the audience such as fight off alien attacks while giving a speech or although not alien [it might be a cat crossing or a mosquito biting], don’t make something stupid when doing a speech. It’s really BAD and will causing that speech to become worse when the audience starts ignoring you!

8. Eat. Better you eat before you giving your speech because it a rude thing to do while giving a speech. It might not be a proper food such as chewing as. As long as it is still considered as munching and stuffing something into the mouth. It is the worse thing to be done in front of the audience.

9. Keep your speech within the time given. Set time for your speech. Do not take a long time when giving your speech. Just give important point. If too long, that makes people tired, sleepy and bored hearing you speech.

10.Don’t twist the fact. Or keep on repeating the same information on and on. That can make audience confuse with the point of speech that you giving.

For me, this is the reason why we cannot do the entire thing in the video when giving a speech. It’s not just bad for us, it also gives impact to audience and the audience will think negative about you and it will give impact to your marks to, if this speech is presented in front of the board of director or the CEO, you might get fired too. So I hope people better avoid doing this thing when giving your public speaking although it’s funny but that such a rude thing to do.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum and thank you for your post about the video of bad public speaking examples. Honestly, the video that you have posted really funny for me. Especially at the part of that guy shot the “alien” and eat the cake deliciously. Based on the video, it let me know how bad is our public speaking really are if we did not take it as a serious matter as shown in the video and that is the fact in the real situation when some of us might do that too. Besides that, I also can identify some mistake when we give our speech whether we realize it or not. So, from the video, it makes me realize to improve my public speaking more and better after this. Thanks to you.

Here, I would like to share some advice regarding of public speaking as shown in the video.

What I had identify is, before we start working on our speech, it's vital that we really understand what we want to say, who we want to tell and why they might want to hear it. To do this, ask ourself: Who? What? How? When? Where? Why?

Who are we speaking to? What are their interests, presuppositions and values? What do they share in common with others; how are they unique?

What do we wish to communicate? One way of answering this question is to ask ourself about the ‘success criteria’. How do we know if and when we have successfully communicated what we have in mind?

How can we best convey our message? Language is important here, as are the nonverbal cues discussed earlier. Choose our words and our nonverbal cues with our audience in mind. Plan a beginning, middle and end. If time and place allow, consider and prepare audio-visual aids.

When? Timing is important here. Develop a sense of timing, so that our contributions are seen and heard as relevant to the issue or matter at hand. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. ‘It’s better to be silent than sing a bad tune.’

Where? What is the physical context of the communication in mind? We may have time to visit the room, for example, and rearrange the furniture. Check for availability and visibility if we are using audio or visual aids.

Why? In order to convert hearers into listeners, we need to know why they should listen to us – and tell them if necessary. What disposes them to listen? That implies that we know ourself why we are seeking to communicate – the value or worth or interest of what we are going to say.

Hope my sharing will improve our public speaking and do not be like that guy in the video who really have the bad example of public speaking. By the way, that cake seems really tasty and I wonder isn’t really tasty?

Thank You. =)

Assalamualaikum,

For this video "BAD PUBLIC SPEAKING EXAMPLE",actually for me, he show us the mistake that people or student always did when he or she give a speech in front of people or on stage.

1 - Turn the tell phone off.
It is also happen to students, when they need to present on the stage, sometimes they forget to turn off their mobile phone.when their cell phone ringing, they will try to turn off or make it silent or answer the call.

2 - Dress appropriately
In speech, for me, the properly dress up is important to show our confident in front of audience. Also the presenter attitude.from dress,we also can feel relax.

3 - Don't use filled pauses
The word "umm","ah","mmm" will make sounds like defect.Even it is habit for some people, in speech,we cannot use it because it will show that we are not confident with our speech or have no idea for the speech.

4 - Don't block the face
for me it means like don't close your face or subdue the face when he or she give a speech. eye contact with audience.

others like use the good language, don't play when give the speech, don't try to speak when eat.

In this video I am not understand with the alien.

that's all, thank you for this information.

Salam madam..

Thank you for sharing with us the funny and knowledgeable video.

There are many things that I've learn from this video. This video teach me on what we shouldn't do while giving a public speaking.

The important things that we must take care of before we are standing in front of audience for giving a speech, is make sure we are wearing a suitable clothes. For example, if we are demonstrating a "taekwondo" steps, we should ware the uniform, it is not suitable if the speaker is using "baju kurung" while demonstrate the steps.

As the speaker, you must make sure you have made your phone into the silent mode. I'm definitely sure that you don’t want to be disturbed while giving your speech and you want to give your attention oh what are you talking about and your audience get on what your speech is about.

If you are using gadgets for complete your speech, make sure that your gadgets is working properly. Make sure that you are testing your gadgets because if the gadgets are not working as you wish, it may affect your speech. If you are giving a demonstrative speech about how to make a sandwich, make sure that your ingredients for making the sandwich is complete.

That what I can conclude about what we shouldn’t do while giving a public speaking.

after view the video that you post in ur blog these are some of my comment about it

1. Turn the cell phone off
Standard issue that the speaker forget to turn off their cell phone, when a speech is presented the speaker need to get full concentration on the presentation and the audience, when something interrupt such as cell phone, the speaker will lose concentration to the presentation

2. Dress appropriately
Public speaking can be a formal speaking in front of crowd. We should wear appropriate dress followed the theme of the day.
It means, we have to dress well in order to ensure the audience confidence and be more interested to listen our speech if we dress well

3. Do not use filled pause
The words "urm"..."uh"...."urmmm"....always come out if we fogot our lines. But that was appropriate if we avoiding from use the filled pause words, (the bad habit of speech)

4. use visual aids properly
Do not use the visual aids to cover our body, face. Does not blocking them with the aids stuff, make sure the visual aids are able to perform the requirement that the speaker want

5. Make sure the technology is properly set up
Make sure the technology is working properly, when presenting a speech with the aid of the technology such as using a laptop, make sure that the prop is set up properly to make sure the presentation run smoothly example: the speaker suddenly pause during a speech when he found out that the battery of his laptop is empty

6. Keep your speech within the correct timeframe
Plan your speech properly; make it short and simple but meaningful, long speech may make the audience to board with it

7. Do not eat when delivered a speech:
I think this refer to chewing a gum or something like that, standard speech rule, don’t chew a gum when presenting a speech, its look like you aren’t serious about it

8. Alien??
Hmmmm not sure what to comment about it….

That all TQ… =/

Thanks for the funniest yet informative video.
My friends and I've laughed when watch the video.we've also do same things..I've learned now and i will try not to do those bad things.

1.Turn off cell phone
You should turn off the cell phone before all of your speech is rejected by audience. It is perfectly when there is an interested topic with no interruption. When your phone is ringing, automatically the audience will lost their attention on your speech. Human is sensitivity to sound of the music. Beside, you will also lost your point of speech.

2.Dress properly
Audience didn't know who you are. They might judge your physical appearance including your dress up. If you are wearing like you want to go to shopping complex, wearing jeans or cap.The audience might assume you are unprofessional. But if you are wearing like a businessman, audience might act you are proffessional. You need to choose a suitable dress with what you are going to speech.

3.Use video aids properly.
Visual aids help your presentation make things happen. Visual aids help you reach your objectives by providing emphasis to whatever is being said. But if improper use video aids will make your speech become bad. Example do let the video aids blocking your face. Eye contact with audience is important to make sure your message is fully delivered.

4.Don't speak too fast
Are you speaking with a robot?Or a machine that it will get what you are going to speech. Speak too fast is making your speech pointless.Audience didn't know what you are talking and it will make audience feel bored.Audience is not a robotic will input all information have given.Try to speak slowly with moderate volume and tone. You will feel more relax and take time to breathing.

5.Make sure use technology is properly
Use technology is well setting up.Use technology improperly might interrupt your speech. It also reduce level of your confident.Beside audience will laugh at you.You should check again technology is well before the presentation.

6.Don't use pauses
Previous point is don't speaking too fast.speak slow.Take time to think. But not too long.It make your speech is not interesting and bored. If you doing this, audience will feel sleepy and their attention will lost.

7.Don't eat
You are eating while giving a speech? You have made a big mistake.Audience feel you are not respecting them. It also increase your speech time.

8.Don't over-articulate
Over-articulate sometimes is good. But it depends on situation.Try not to over-articulate your speech. It make you are so annoying.

thats all.

Assalamualaikum Madam Mimi,

I already watch your video and thank you for sharing it with us. Actually bad public speaking is where we focus entirely on ourselves and not keep the audience's needs in mind. Here I would like to make some comments about the video.

-Turn the cell phone off
Usually when giving a speech, we should silent or turn off the phone. This is because it will interrupt us when giving a speech and makes the audience feel like we are not responsible speaker.

-Dress appropriately
We must wear properly when giving a speech. In addition we can wear properly dress that are related to out topic.

-Don't use filled pause
Actually, while we are speaking we may get stuck and need to take time to think of what or how to say. At such time, many people may make sounds like umm'ss or aaah's. This kind of thing may make us look stupid.

-Use proper rate of voice
How you say something can be more important than what you say. Vary the tone of our voice and avoid monotony otherwise your audience might doze off. The volume of our voice is also very important. It should not be too high so that it looks as if we are shouting or should it be so low that the people have difficulty in hearing.

That's all from me. Thank You Madam.

Assalamualaikum. First of all, I would like to thank you for the video posted. I have watched it. Some people might say that it is funny. It makes them laugh and etcetera but for me I would say that it is very disappointing as he has presented the presentation not in well manner. Well, he should realize and know the ‘rules’ of presentation. We should know that, during the presentation we should act in good manner in order to get other people respect right? Here, I learnt that, we should dress appropriately. The attire is important because it will make us be more confident. To be confident during the presentation is important so that we can deliver our message to the audience very well. Next is, we should use the correct and formal language during the presentation. The language used by the man can be considered as rude and inappropriate. To attract the audience attention and respect, we should use the correct and formal language. If we are going to use visual aids or tools, such as power point, graphic organizer or etc, make sure that it is well prepared. Do not make the audience read the information or else it might boring them. It is good to have some pictures, mind map or graphic organizer about the topic that you are presenting. Those materials will help the audience to have a better understanding about the explanations. If you are using a short note, make sure do not block your face. You must hold it properly so that your voice projection will be clear and the audience can see your face clearly. Do not speak to fast or else the audience could not catch your words. When they do not understand the presentation, directly they will lose their attention. Time is also other important matter in delivering you speech. We have managed our time wisely so that we have enough time to deliver the entire message. It is better to have a short and simple notes but it is meaningful and effective. Do not waste your time giving a boring long speech. During the presentation, the body language is crucial. We have to come out with attractive and effective body language in order to help our speech become more interesting. Make sure your hand phone is in silent mode and do not let other things distract your speech. Let say if you suddenly could not remember your point, just speak out whatever is in your mind. Avoid the ‘errrr’ and ‘errmm’. It makes you look unfamiliar with you topic and the audience might misjudge you. Behave yourself well in front of the crowd. Do not make you look stupid by over reacting and over confident. Just make the thing flow smoothly. The fact is still a fact, it better for you just to agree with it and search for some proved and supporting details on the fact to help you convincing the audience. Those are my reflection and understanding about this video. The conclusion that I can make is, to be well manner and good behave is really important during the presentation so that we will be respectful and concerned by the audience. Delivering a good presentation and message is just like educating other people with the new knowledge, so make it be the great one! Thank you. =)

salam

the video above has very useful besides its fun to watch.

in my opinion from the video above, i think the dressing code and about turn the cell phone off is the part that should be pay more attention.

how a person dress show the attitude and the person confidence. if you were to deliver a speech with a shabby clothes on then the audience will start doubt you. its all about good impression. people would prefer to hear a speech from a good looking person rather than a shabby looking person because the good looking person looks more convincing.

and about the cellphone, it is normal for everyone to have a cell phone because it is important. but not during you delivering a speech because if the cell phone ringing during the speech, it will distract the audience and they will started to lose interest in your speech. if your speech is at its climax, it will make the mood stop in the middle. so, it is better if the cell phone is off or silent before you delivering the speech.

thank you.

This video actually make me laugh. How can give public speaking with that way. Sometime i think they will not give a public speech but they just talking.Haha. Firstly, must have a practice. Next, You need to dress appropriately while stay in front of people. This is so important because audiences can detect you from your dress. They can think that you series or not while doing the speech. You need to dress tidy and look comfortable with you own dress. Not eating when give the public speaking. It really make you looking foolish and the audience will not excited to listen you. That all comment from me about this topic the video. Hope we all can give a great speech or speaking public.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum..This is all What we have to avoid when giving a speech..
1) Being unprepared.

2) Dressing improperly for your speech. Don’t give anyone easy reasons to tune you out.

3) Not looking at your audience.

4) Unclear language, sloppy language, fillers, and apologies
i) Using the words “things”, “this”, “that”, “they”, ”those”, where the meaning is not clear, or where this or that has a name. EXAMPLES: “This explains why that didn’t work.” “In this reaction, they found...”
ii) “This here is your”, “Here you’ve got your”, “then you get your”, and all related sayings. It’s not mine and I don’t have it!
iii) Speaking so low that you can’t be heard, or too fast, or in a monotone, or to the screen, or like mushmouth.
iv) Saying “um”, “uh”, “right”, “like”, “gonna”, “OK”, “you know”, “kind of”, “sort of”, “pretty much”, and all other fillers and wafflings.
v) Mispronouncing words. If you don’t know how to say a word, look it up!
vi) Not defining terms, assuming your audience knows too much.
vii) Apologizing. “I’m sorry this isn’t readable”, “I’m sorry I don’t understand this.”

5) Not explaining graphs and figures. It is all too common to have someone say “As you can see from this figure,” before they even explain what is being shown, or what is being plotted versus what, and what one should expect to see from such a graph.

6) Notecards. You should have sufficient command of your material to speak extemporaneously. Using notecards is forbidden. Use your overheads to prompt you.

7) Reading overheads to your audience. Everyone in the audience is perfectly capable of reading the overhead by themselves. Avoid this pitfall by putting key words or phrases on the overhead, not complete sentences.

8) i) Overheads with small print, or that are cluttered, or that serve no purpose.
ii Overheads with useless data.
iii) Overheads with large tables of data. Retype the useful information and omit the rest.

9) Strange mechanics, pointer madness, and overhead projector silliness.
i) Waving pointers around, waving hands around, using a pointer as a cane, using the wrong end of the pointer, fidgeting or moving around a lot.
ii) Pointing to the overhead in such a way that no one knows what you are pointing at.
iii) Turning the projector on and off.
iv) Standing in front of the projector, or otherwise blocking people’s view.

10) Introductions that say “I’m gonna talk about this, and I’m gonna talk about that, and I’m gonna talk about that,” and conclusions that say “And I talked about this, and I talked about that, and I talked about that.” Be specific, even to the point of saying “The take home message is...”, and in the introduction, say “I’m going to talk about this because...” In other words, actually say something; give us the big picture in the introduction and conclusion. Also avoid simply restating the introduction in the conclusion.

11) Using “et al.” in your reference list. The rule is this: If you use et al., then “Al” will be in the audience. Pet Peeves: What to avoid when you are in the audience

1) Arriving late.

2) Talking to one another.

3) Giggling (unless the speaker has made a joke on purpose).

4) Reading your newspaper.

5) Being sullenly silent when the moderator asks if there are any questions. It is very demoralizing to a speaker when the audience has the deer-in-the-headlights look at the end of a presentation. If you didn’t understand something, ASK! The only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask for fear of looking stupid. Also, remember that if the students don’t ask questions, the profs will (heh, heh, heh...).

I have been watch this video. This is very very bad speech and i never thought that have this kind of person when give a speech. It so funny.

There are few thing that important that we must take note.

1) silent cell phone
~when give a speech we must ensure that our phone in silent mode or off the phone. This is because the sound came from telephone will disturb us when give a speech.

2) good posture
~before start presenting the speech, we must ensure that we stand in right posture because posture can tell how you feel about yourself.
There are ways to build confident before we start give a speech:
a) keep your spine straight and rotate
your shoulder back.
b) keep your head erect
c) keep your hands at your sides with your
fingers open or slightly apart.
d) keep both feet flat on the floor and
slightly apart.

3) Eye contact
~good eye contact with your listener is important because is absolutely essential for becoming an effective communicator.
Important of good eye contact:

a) show that you are open and honest
b) is more effective that the words you say.
c) encourage listener to pay attention

this video very interesting, here i want to share more about bad public speaking

• Reading – Some speakers are not good readers. If you are not skilled at reading something out loud, don’t do it while speaking. Especially avoid doing this secretly. In other words, if you plan to deliver your speech by reading all or part of it, and you do not have good out loud reading skills, forget it.
• Not keeping everyone involved - Inexperienced or thoughtless speakers leave members of the audience out.
• Sitting Down – Some speakers choose to sit down on the job. In a very small, intimate group or when the audience is sitting in a circle of chairs or on the floor, for example, speaking while seated is generally okay. But if you have a room containing six rows of chairs or more, you really should express respect for those in the back of the room by standing so that you can be seen as well as heard.
• Filler Words – Even some professional speakers still use too many filler words. It takes practice, but you can ride your vocabulary (especially while speaking in public) of those filler words like, uh, ah, err. Also avoid connecting sentences by overusing “and.”
• Overshooting Time Allotment – Many speakers have trouble staying within the time allotment. Most programs or presentations are carefully organized. Each segment is designed to fit into a specific time slot. I’ve seen speakers completely disregard their time constraints and foul up the entire evening’s program. Not cool.

Assalamualaikum madam mimi...

Thanks for post this video. This video is very interesting and funny.
It shows me how to avoid all that bad things while giving a speech such as turn off our handphone to maintain our concentration.
I also want to share how to avoid this problem. You must avoid constantly speaking to your notes. You must connect with your audience and have a conversation with them. While you must look at your notes from time to time, be sure that you know every aspect of your speech well so that you can spend a good bit of your time looking at the people in your audience. It's rather disappointing to the audience for them to expect a speech but instead come for monotonous mumbling and a good look at the top of somebody's head.
That all..
Thank you...

Thanks madam for the great video that is so useful for us as a preparation to make a speech. And now i want to share what we need to do when giving a speech.

Before you start planning your speech, find out from the organizers how much time you have and what format they envision for your talk. Do you have 15 minutes or an hour? Do they prefer to leave time for questions? If yes, does that come out of the allocated time you have been quoted? It is important to know what is expected of you so you can be well prepared and not have to scramble last minute to readjust your talk due to unanticipated logistics.

The first couple of minutes of your talk should be the most prepared and polished. You want to get off to a good start. Those are likely to be the most nervous moments so it is best not to leave anything to chance. By being well prepared, you can convey your messages with confidence. It is important to establish early on that you are prepared and are worth people's attention.

People rarely want to listen to someone for longer than the allotted time. Few people are such amazing speakers that an audience can't get enough of them. Do not assume you are one of those few. Wrap up your talk on time. To achieve this goal, ask someone to give you time cues by indicating when you have five minutes left, two minutes and when you have run out of time. Once you get the last notice, you should stop talking.

Organize your talk and know it well enough to have the flexibility to skip certain parts or expand on others depending on the circumstances. For example, if you do add a last- minute introduction (as per the previous point), be flexible to skip a part of the prepared content.

Make sure that you exert confidence during your presentation. Don't apologize for what you don't have with you to present or what you do not know. Rather, focus on what you can talk about and discuss the material with confidence. This does not mean that you should be arrogant or patronizing. It means that you should look comfortable covering the material. Be sure to enjoy your talk and show your enthusiasm about the content. Your interest in the topic will be contagious and will likely result in a more engaged audience.

Practice the presentation a few times: more if you have less experience, less if you are a more seasoned public speaker. It can be especially helpful to give the talk to someone who is not in your field and is not intimately familiar with the material.

Don't write out the material word-by-word and don't plan on reading text even if you do have it all written down. Having the text written out and parts of it memorized will constrain you. Memorize the structure of the talk and the outline, but not every word.

Now I would like to share with you my opinion regarding this video.
~turn the cell phone off
We must turn off our cell phone during speech. This because, it’ll distract our audience attention towards our speech and will make our audience feels uncomfortable.
~dress appropriately
We must wear appropriately dress when we delivered our speech. This will make us feel more comfortable.
~use visual aids properly
This will help us to make more confident when we are delivering a speech. But, do not block your audience. This because, there is no eye contact between the speaker and the audience.
~don’t eat while giving a speech.
This will not respect our audience when we are delivering a speech.

Salam madam
What a interesting video that you've shared. My comment in this video are:
turn off the cell phone - when I'm giving a speech, I'll make sure that my cell phone will turn off. This will make our audience angry at us.

dress appropiately - good and appropiate dress will give good first impression from audience but don't over dress. From the dress can show our personality. So dress well.

don't use filled pauses - urmm,aa,hmm are examples of words that we use when we are trying to get idea or to arrange sentence in our mind. Lots of filled pauses will distract audience. So, take a deep breath and cool down. Try to avoid it.

use visual aids properly -
make sure technology is properly set up - sometimes the technology does'nt work as what we want. Make a double check before delivering a speech and make sure that you're already have another plan to backup if anything happen to the technology.

use proper rate - please speak in a normal rate and clear pronounciation. If audience do not understand of what you're talking about, they will ignore to hear your speech.

don't eat while giving your speech - This action are also can distract audience attention. Do not eat your food eventhough you're trying to convince the audience that the cake you're baking are delicious.

Thank you

I have seen this vidoe. It is very interesting and quite funny for me.It's also give me a lot of information
to prevent our speech from becoming a bad public speaking. From this video we now that we must:

1. Keep our cell phone off during the entire speech. It's because cell phone is considered as an interruption during any talk or speech, and even in classes. The sound from the cell phone can disturb away your listeners attention.

2. Before start our speech, the speaker will look at our dressup whether it is look nice or tidy.If we wear a tidy clothes, the audience may not interested to listen your speech.

3.When we giving a speech, don't block our face with anything. This is because the audience may not seen our face and they don't understand the message that you want to tell them.

Assalamualaikum..
I have watch this video and seriously, its funny. But then i kept thinking,am i like that? We seems to be confident about we trying to deliver, but then, after we watch the recorded video of our self, there must be a fault or something strange.

Here i want to share few tips on how to not look bad in our speech.

Be impress with personal opinion = When you speak or give a presentation, try to squeeze in a few of your personal thoughts on the matter. Of course these should be prepared early on. However, you should make it as if the ideas are spontaneously out while you are presenting. That will differentiate your presentation from the rest, and when you see the interested look on the faces of your audience, it will elevate your presentation to another new level, a level where you start having fun.

Make mistakes intentionally = This is another trick I encourage you to try. Once I “accidentally” dropped my notes on the floor, and while picking them up, I warned the audiences that the presentation will be more confusing after this. I heard some laughter from the floor.

The idea is to gain control of your audience. If you can make them laugh and be more interactive with you, your presentation will have that casual feel to it which will make it more memorable than others. Ultimately you will find it easier to do.

Invest in visual aids = Imagine a presentation with beautiful PowerPoint
slides and even more impressive notes given to each of your audience members. Half of the time, their eyes will not be on you. They will read through the notes and your fancy slides. This will help a lot as you can then speak to the people who are not looking at you. When they look at you, you just change your focus to other people who are not looking. Giving a speech to people who are not looking at you is always easier.

I hope these tips will be helping and i hope that I can learn more from you. Insya Allah..

peace upon to you..

i already play this video and i will give the conclusion about that.

please turned off your cell phone or you may silent mode that phone. it is rude if you answer your called in front of people.

after that, make sure you dress well and be polite when you give some speech. from that, the audiences will know your personalities are.

lastly, make sure, you didn't hide your face from the audiences when you wish to show some visual aids. why you must be shy when stand in front of them?? be confident..

thank you...

his video will help us to overcome our mistakes in the public speaking. I want to give an opinion on this video.

first, we need to dress properly, can make us more confident. if we were not dressed appropriately, when people continue to stare us. we can be more nervous.

Next, use dont fill the interval. if you forget something just needs time to breath in and then try to remember or just skip. is better than you "ummmh" or "Uhm."

Next, do not use the phone during the speech, because it can interfere with speech course, and it will affect our speech.

last time, we need to do to practice before doing speech. it will help us more confident to make speech.

Salam Madam..

Thank you for this video. This video very funny for me but from this video it give me the lesson. I want give my opinion about this video.

1. Turn off or silent cell phone
This is important because if the cell phone sound it can make the audiences fill not conferable and it can distract attention the audience to heard the speech. It also can make you lost focus.

2. Wear suitable clothes
It also important because the first audience look at your cloths. From the cloths, audiences can impression your speech. If your cloths look dowdy, the audiences also think that your speech not good. The cloths can attract audiences attention.

3. Speak with clearly
Don't do 'eeemmm...' when give the speech because it can make audience fill bored. It also can make audience not confident with you.

4. Don`t saying the same word many times.
This situation can make the audiences fill bored and make they fill don't want to heard the speech.

5. Don`t eat.
Please don't eat when you give the speech because it not courteous when talk while eat.
This act can make the audience fill not comfortable with you. It also look you not respect the audience. So, better you eat before you speech.

6. Use visual aids with correctly
You must know what the best and suitable visual aid for you speech. If you use the wrong visual aid, it might effect to you speech because the audience can't understand what you talk.

Assalamualaikum madam.

Thank you for the great video on bad public speaking example. When I watch this video, i have take a note as my guide.

1. Wear suitable clothes
- Make sure to wear suitable clothes for your speech. Suitable clothes is important for your speech because it will attract the audience. If audience see the dress don't fit the speech they will ignore your speech.

2. Bring out clear speech
- Good speech will attract the audience. Don't fill your speech with nonsense word like 'mmmmmmm' or 'hmmmmmmm' or 'ehemm' because it will make your speech look weak and doesn't attract the audience.

3- Dress appropriately.
You need to dress appropriately while
stay in front of audience.
Audience can look what the speaker's
wear. You need dress tidy & look
comfortable with your dress.

4- Use visual aid properly.
Don't block your face with the visual
aid. This is because audience cannot
see your expression when give the
speech.

from what i watch, they are some part that i do when give a speech which is twist the fact.
i cannot say i always do that, but sometime without knowing the twist fact will come.
an for me, from that video, there are several thing that can make the audience will angry to us.

from the video , eating when give a speech is to much rude for me. it will make the audience angry and not really suitable hear the speech.

not turn off the cell phone = it will make the attraction from the audience will lost.

overact when give a speech = if that things going happen when give a speech, it may make the audience fell angry or weird to the speaker and it can make the audience don't want to hear the speech.

Assalamualaikum.

I have watched your video clip about the bad example of public speaking. This video is so useful because it provide speeches guidance for me. Thank you for the video.

By watching this video, I can improve my speeches with the guidance that have in this video. Several things that importance for me is dress appropriately. I agree with this point because our dressing will give the first impression for audiences. Appropriate dress and appearance will give a good impression for audience and also can increase the speakers confidence.

Then, the use of visual aid in speeches. The visual aids can help in speech because the audience can more understand the topic that discussed. But, the way of speaker use the visual aids is sometimes have a mistakes. The mistakes is the speakers use the visual aid to block their face from audience sight like the speaker in video does. Maybe the speaker do that to get confidence, but this will make the audience lost their concentration on speeches.

The third point is preparation. In this video, the unwell preparation cause the technology not running and spoil the speeches. To have a good public speaking, we must do an enough preparation in any factor like the content of speeches, the visual aid, the technology used, and another else. This because, we don’t want any un expectation happen during our speeches. So, we must make preparation for a success speeches and with enough preparation, we will gain high confidence level.

Thank you.

I have looked at the video. That is the worst speaker I ever saw, he eats, he shoots and he even use cellphone when giving speech. He broke every rule of public speaking even though a warning is displayed to not do it. However, in the context of the title of his speech he manages to show me what to do and what not when giving speeches. He also do it vigorously and with amazing casual attitude. I manages to steal some laugh watching this video and got the idea about the alien thing. It is about focusing on your speech and nothing else whatsoever. I would want to point out though, about his posture, and gestures. I believe you must not cross your arm and put your hands inside your pockets when giving speeches, audience may believe you are not serious enough to tell them something. Unless you are standing in front of a rostrum try to use the floor to let the audiences gives attention to you. However, moderation is one of the key for a successful speech as it gives a dash of casual to avoid sleepy audiences, a sprinkle of formality to avoid sarcasm from audience and enough attention toward your speech. All in all I learn a lot from this video and enjoyed it. Thank you very much.

That video looks interesting. What's the title of the video clip? Oh yeah, Bad example of public speaking, right. In my opinion, that guys too weird to be retarded. But in other ways that clip also can be educational i think. And i also don't know whats his problem with the alien. Shooting alien when giving a speech? Alien can be friendly too. Hmmm...maybe?

Well that video kind of funny in some way. For example when he give speech when he is eating the cake. Well, when he talk sound something funny. Moreover don't eat while giving a speech.

Next is the issue of having a hand phone. Can u imagine while u giving a speech to the audiences then your phone start ringing and then u answer it. "What the hell" that might be some of your audience words will come out from their mouth.

In the end i would like to say to madam, she did a good job. by showing us this video. I hope i will see more video like this in the future. Thank you very much.

Assalamualaikum
I don’t know what to say about this video. I think this guy has become mad. The first problem that this guy is using his handphone while giving his speech. This is very bad. He must turn off his phone or make the phone in vibrating mode. So, when he is giving his speech, there is no other disturbance. The second problem that this guy has done is he is dressing with not properly dress. This will cause the audience looking on his cloth not listening to the speech and what this guy wants to give maybe the audience not hearing it.
The next problem that this guy has is filled pause speech. When he do it, he will not be has confidence while giving this speech. This can cause the audience feel his speech so boring and maybe there is the audience who sleep. The next problem is this guy is blocking his face with visual aid. This will cause the audience feel not confidence with the speaker. The audience will consider this guy is a shy person. The next problem is the technology that this guy using is not working properly. The audience will think this guy is not well prepared person.
The next problem is this guy is speaking with fast rate. The audience will not understand it and maybe there are the audience that will leave this public speaking. The next problem is not logic. If we are doing public speaking, the aliens will attacks us? Surely not. I don’t understand what the next problem. But, this guy must use appropriate timeframe. Next is this guy is eating while giving his speech. I think this guy do not have a well manner.
The next problem is this guy is over articulate while giving his speech. This will cause the audience will laugh when listening to his speech. The last problem is the big mistake. The speaker must not twist the fact. If he is doing it, the audience will consider the speaker is cheating. Cheating is not good manner. We also get sins if we cheating. So this guy must not twist the fact.
Lastly this video is not good. I only just giving zero star. Thank you.

Assalamualaikum.

Thank you for sharing this video. Inside this video got many information about the bad that we need to avoid in speech. This video also quite funny one.

I want to share my opinion about this video.

The first thing that this guy do is about answering phone call while giving a speech.
This can make an audience lost in hearing the speech about.

The second is about not appropriate dressing. In my opinion, the dressing should suitable to the speech.

The third is about pause the speech many times. This can make the audience feel so boring and lose mood to hearing the speech about.

The fourth thing is about the visual aids. As a good speaker, we need to present our visual aid clearly, hang it nicely and do not make it block our face.

And the last thing that i want to share is about the shooting alien while giving a speech. This one is so surprising because the shouting of "Oh my god, there is an alien on running ! Pom3 ". This is the funny one in this video.

Anyway, this video give me a lot of information about what we need to avoid in speech.

Thank you very much.

Assalamualaikum.

I have seen this video about the bad example of public speaking. It is very useful and the same time this video is interesting and funny for me.
By watching this video, can give me the guideline about public speaking especially the command mistakes that speaker always done.
Before we start our speech, we need to be sure that no other thing that can disturb us to continue our speech such as handphone. Like example, when the hand phone is ringing, we might be lost and not concentrate on our speech.
One of the bad example on this video is don’t eat while we perform our speech. It can make the audience judge us not respect them and this kind of behavior is not unforgiveable unless you need to do so.
Dress properly can attract the audience about the speech that we will going to perform. Dress also can increase the audience mood.
As a speaker, don’t staring outside, try to communicate with the audience through eye contact. Don’t be weird, that we can give the message from our speech through the eyes.
Last but not least, speaker cannot speak too fast. The audience might not get or understand about the speech and the other thing, a speaker should not repeat the same word many time. It can make bored to the audience.
Thank you.

Assalamualaikum,

Thanks madam for the great video that is so useful for us as a guidelines about what and what shouldn't we do in a speech.

I've watch the video and found that its suit its title,Bad Public Speaking Examples..this is because, the speaker has broke every rule of good public speaking criteria such as eats and he even use cellphone when giving speech. This shouldn't be done by any speaker because it can lead to the audience dis comfortable and will make the audience loose their interest in listening to the speech.

From the video, there are few things that i want us to be careful with..

For those who has a hand phone, please TURN OFF your phone while you are in the speech, or it will disturb your presentation.

Dress properly when you are giving a speech to show your self-confidence. Usually formal dress because it will attract audience to pay more attention to you when you're convincing them.

Use appropriate body language to make the audience get what are you trying to deliver to them.

Use correct intonation in order to let audience know your speech punch lines or main point.

speak moderately, not too fast and not too slow so that it will helps your audience to capture and understand the flow of your speech.

Show your confident through your speech.Audience will attracted to hear a speech from a speaker that seems like he really know, expert and already done a deeply research about the topic he's being giving speech about.

Salam..

I have seen this video and learnt a few new things..There are a few things need to be avoided when giving a speech in order to come out with better speech..We must keep the speech with sequential flow in order to ensure audiences keep listening to our speech..

I have learnt on not to on cell phone during giving a speech..The cell phone should be off to avoid any outside disruptions..

Besides, I have also learn on not to eat during give a speech..It such a bad attitude while talking to people with full mouth..

Moreover, we should dress properly when delivering a speech to audiences..Should wear properly and nice to look but don’t too dress up and not too messy..

From the speech, I also learnt not to give a false fact and turns out any facts.. It such a fault and people will distrust us.. The speech should not be too long and must have its own timing..It cannot takes too long to ensure people will not ignore the contents..

Moreover, there should have so many pauses in the speech..It will reflect the speaker does not well-prepared and lack of information and ideas..It should be avoided..

Thank you madam for giving us such a good guidelines in delivering our speech.. You are such a helpful person..

Thank you once again..

huh! it's been really hard to load this video since my internet connection is very slow. But somehow I manage to watch it to the end with all the patient and excitement I got =).

Anyway, my first impression of what this video shows me is the presenter is totally make me laugh, and a lot. This video truly show me how possibly worse could happen with using bad method to present something.

I totally disagree with all the method he use to talk to the audience. For example; doing the presentation with carrying the pistol. Huh that is not appropriate and may cause chaos right? There is 12 way he choose and show to us and I totally agree with the title, "BAD EXAMPLE OF SPEECH". And I may have an idea how to change the title, give it "SUPER CRAZY EXAMPLE OF BAD SPEECH".

This video is very good in giving me great laugh, but at the same time also give many great example of what I should not do in giving my speech to the audience at later time. Tq Pn Emelia =))

Assalamualaikum Puan..

I have watched the video about Bad Public Speaking Example and it is very funny and entertaining. It is also very useful because it give me a guideline about public speaking.

From the video that I watch, the speaker does many bad things such as not wearing appropriate attire. He also uses cell phone and moves too much while giving the speech. Not only that, he also do other things that distract the audience such as eating and fighting with aliens using pistol.

The conclusion is speaker must wear formally like wearing blazer to attract the audience. By the way, the cell phones must be turned off before speaker entering the hall and must limit the movement while giving the speech else the speaker will annoy the audience. Bring weapons along the speech will scare the audience and it is dangerous. That is all I can comment about this Bad Public Speaking video and thanks to you Puan for sharing this video.

I agree with that example because speakers won’t let it happen if he or she want to be a good speaker.

To be a good speaker, we need a practice in order to make our self feel nervous, and unconfident. For example, try to find someone that you really trust and practice in front of him or her. Then you can know your weaker part of speech, and how people judge our speech. Besides that, talking while standing in front of the mirror is the other way how to improve your level of confident, see your posture, gesture and body language. Preparation and rehearsal is important because the environment and our feeling were totally different with practice. Audience will judge anything including your delivered voice, body languages to make your speech more attractively.

This video give me a guidance to be a good speaker.

we must turn off our phone before starting our speech.it is not good if we turn on phone because it will disturb the speech presentation.
we also have to set up the technology properly before starting the speech.
we also have to dress properly because from our appearance , it can make the audience feel comfortable with the speaker. we also have to dress properly depend on the speech and situation.
the speaker cannot eat while giving the speech. it will affect the attention from the audience if the title of the speech is not based on eating or food.
the speaker also have to set time for the speech to avoid from not too late or too fast.

Use visual aid properly.Don't block your face with the visual aid. This is because audience cannot see your expression when give the speech.

so we have to plan the speech before present it and do it seriously.

I was watched bad public speaking on this video. I get many bad habit during public speaking. firstly, turn off the phone, during a speech we must avoid distraction because it may lost the speaker focus and disturb the audience concentration.

Secondly, avoid constantly making "urmm" and "uhh" noises during your speech if you can't find the word that you are looking for, then just pause for a moment.

Thirdly, use the visual aids properly. when you use the visual or picture make sure that you did'nt block your face and audience.

Definitely not the right thing to do, but i find the video funny :) any keynote speaker or motivational should stay away from these mistakes.
